***Official 2021 Vikings***

Yeah but Aaron can win you a Super Bowl even if he doesnt have all the pieces around him. Kirk absolutely cannot.
But the market marches on. Every agent is going to argue that their client can win it all. The biggest QB contracts are eclipsed basically every single year.

I get that. Which is why if your going to pay that kind of insane money, you do it with a proven winner and have the pieces around him. Kirk wasn’t a winner, isn’t a winner and those pieces are around him unless your looking at the guys actually protecting him on the line.

If you only care about draft picks, just run Mannion or Mond out there for free. None of Gardner/Fitz/Brissett are going to win a Super Bowl before Kirk would.

We could retain Kirk and just cut/trade most of the defense's expenses. It isn't gonna get much worse than a ~30th ranked defense with them now.

Disagree. Kirk contract hurts the team more than Fitzpatrick is a downgrade in talent. You'd get $20+ million to further add pieces

But even Aaron Rodgers hasn't won anything in a decade. Above average quarterbacks rarely hit the market in the NFL, let alone proven winners. Quarterback contracts, outside of 2 or 3 guys, are nearly always a speculative prospect.

Which is why I don’t understand why Vikings fans **** on Favre for the interception against NO in the NFC championship game. Where the hell would you have been without him?

Any long timer saw that coming. But I agree, as brutal as that was, they absolutely aren’t there without him playing the way he does.

Well you aren’t do anything with Fitzpatrick, so why upgrade over Mond or Mannion? To make sure you go 5-12 instead of 2-15? Problem is you aren’t getting g much for Kirk, and if you basically tank that’s probably going to piss of JJ. Not to mention you’ve got some older pieces locked in big contracts on D. Going to be tough to reset that defense next year too.

Why I think Pederson will be your next old coach. Packers cast aways are like crack to the Viking front office.
This is kind of true. Their castoffs may be pretty good.

On another topic. Things that Green Bay has is a legacy of great management, an eye for talent, and top coaches: Holmgren, McCarthy, and LaFleur are great coaches in the last 25 years. (Among head coaches at Green Bay are several Mikes or others with names starting with "M.")

Finding and developing QBs and adjunct talent is also proven.

This proven track record of success and players will take less pay because they believe the money is LESS important than getting to the playoffs, and into the Superbowl, with a chance to win EVEN if they haven't done it recently. It is there.

I think guys like Barr, Pierce and Harrison Smith could be gone. Maybe Kendricks and Theilen as well. There's almost $30 million in cap space to gain from those guys alone.

It would be nice to get Cousins to agree to a reduced salary. I doubt it will happen, but it needs to. He has been decent, but nearly good enough to be making what he is making.

Trade down in the draft a little bit and pick up an extra 3rd round pick... Select USC WR Drake London to pair with Jefferson... Sign a solid o-lineman in free agency... Other than that, focus on defense with the rest of the draft and in free agency.

He's got a team friendly deal. They can cut him and save cap room.
Brzezinski has been awesome with salary cap management. Most teams kick the can down the road but the Vikings create many contracts that fall off with zero dead money after the first 3 years

If we are able to trade Cousins, I wouldn't mind signing a Jameis Winston or Mitch Trubisky to a one year deal. Best case scenario the new staff can get enough out of them to make a playoff run and they look like geniuses. Worst case they blow up and we have a high draft pick in 2023 to be in position to get a CJ Stroud or Bryce Young.
