***Official 2021 Vikings***

Maybe a third, but you're probably more likely correct, a 4th or 5th for Theilen. Someone looking for a possession receiver that could slide into the #2 spot as needed.

GM first is 1000% the right call. And that GM HAS to move on from Cousin's

NFL teams can get to a superbowl via 2 routes:

1 - HOF QB
2 - Cheap QB with a LOADED roster

Kirk isn't a even a top 10 QB in the league. His 2022 cap hit is top 5 in the league. Trade him for a bag of footballs at use that $40M to rebuild.

How cyfan92 would run the Vikings:

-Jacoby Brissett or Fitzmagic at $5-$8M on a 1 year deal unless you can draft Pickett.
-Extend Hunter, draft either one of the top 3 interior OL players at 12 or a potential franchise DE.
-Restructure Theilen and Cook to free up enough cap to sign a RG or C. Whatever spot you miss in the draft
-Sign a top CB to pair with a rising Dantzler. This makes it so you don't HAVE to draft a CB in the top 2 rounds.
-Build depth

I REALLY like the idea of trading Cousins, drafting Corral or Pickett. Both players are far better prospects than Mac Jones. Look at the roster they can build in NE without a $40M cap hit at QB. Now add in the weapons the Vikings have

Extending Hunter is not a good idea. If healthy, sure, but he just can't stay healthy.

I grimace at the idea but something about Fitzmagic and that beard in MN does just feel right.

When the Wilf's ask the GM candidates about Cousins, they're going to hear--
"You won't be able to trade him. Too expensive, not a leader, and a little weird. You're stuck with him. You've got a year to figure out what to do at QB. They only thing you should plan on right now--no extension, what ever you do."

I didn't think he looked that bad against green Bay for what he was asked to do.
I didn’t think so either, but then it was almost halftime and saw they had like 50 yards of offense. At no time did I think Mannion looked terrible, but at no time did I think “Hey, that’s a functional offense.”

Hasn't Fitz been hurt his last couple years, too? Injury-prone QB wouldn't help the Vikings accomplish much.

Assuming you are out from some/most of Kirk's contract. You could build a pretty nice roster around him, Brissett and Minshew.

Worst case scenario is you go between 7-10 and 9-8 and miss the playoffs and don't get a good pick... Which is exactly where you are with Kirk. Best case scenarios is you make the playoffs (Kirk likely can't with that cap hit) or Ftizy gets hurt again and you are drafting top 5-7 for what looks like a LOADED 2023 QB class
