NBA: ***Official 2019 NBA Playoffs Thread***

I guess this might make it a little tougher for the team to permaban the "fan" who shoved Kyle Lowry after Lowry chased a loose ball into the courtside seat area.

Shouldn't have any effect whatsoever. This coward should be banned from all games. If its a normal fan and not an investor, he's done. Lowry keeping his composure kept this situation from escalating even further and possibly turning into a benches clearing/suspension situation.

Video of push.

I don't care if you're part owner. A white fan pushing a black player is a baaaaad look for the NBA. Time to ban the guy. Banning an owner isn't exactly new. See Donald Sterling.

Good on the Warriors for doing the right thing in the short term and not allowing him to attend any more games in the Finals. Next step is to force him to sell off his share of the team and permanently ban him from all Warriors games in the future.

It should be pretty simple - hands off the players. They're not animals in a petting zoo.

If people sitting courtside can't get that through their head then maybe the NBA needs to eliminate those seats entirely, status symbols be damned.

No Durant for Game 4. (Twitter multiple people)

Interesting. Last night it sounded like they might try to have him get in some 3 on 3 or full court work with some of the end of the bench guys and staffers. Either that didn't go well or he couldn't even get clearance from team doctors to try it.

Quit with the virtue signalling ********. Kyle came out and said this was nothing like the incident in Utah.

Yeah, there's nothing to indicate that it was a racial thing although I could see how someone might reach that conclusion.

I can't. How do people even come to these conclusions? I see a man shove another man. Not until Dandy's post did it even register in my mind that one of the men is black and another is white. Makes me wonder if these people coming to these conclusions are closeted racists.

75% of the players in the league are black. 99.93 % of the owners in the NBA are white. In this case I don't think the guy who shoved Lowry was making an overtly racist action, but Dandy's right that it's a bad look for the league. Even if racism wasn't the motivation in this case it's not hard to see how so some people could see this as racist or an act of white privilege.

Big Twitter rumor is he actually tore his Achilles but they're playing it off as a calf strain for free agency purposes.

That doesn't make any sense. He couldn't hide something like that forever. Sooner or later he'd have to take a physical for whatever team he picked in free agency and it would come out then. Now, I can see him and the Warriors maybe keeping it secret for the purposes of the Finals and keeping Toronto guessing as to whether he'll come back.

Lowry is on record saying "and then say some vulgar language to me." It's a really bad look.

"Vulgar language" is a pretty broad phrase. Could mean lots of things; some of which wouldn't have anything to do with race.

I do agree that it's a bad look. And the league and team have responded well in the short term.

Right, and he's walking around on it fine and working out, he wouldn't be doing that with a torn Achilles If he actually tore it there's no reason he would want to burn a month of two just playing decoy when he could have surgery and start the rehab process. I think there's just a big difference between being able to shoot around and being able to function at an athletic level needed for the NBA Finals.

Yeah. I think that really the only intrigue now is if everyone is on the same page, or if the Warriors are holding him out, or if they've cleared him to play and he's putting himself and his career first (I wouldn't blame him, but I also think this is the least likely scenario).

I think the team is just playing it safe with him for now. If the Warriors go down 3-1 then maybe they decide it's time to push him to give it a go. But if they win Game 4 to even the series then it buys them a little more time instead of rushing him back.

I thought when Golden State started playing 11 guys after Durant got hurt that it was a real good sign he wasn’t coming back quickly. They wanted to see which bench guys would perform in the playoffs.
