NBA: ***Official 2019 NBA Playoffs Thread***

The Pelicans made this bed. They failed to build around AD for 5+ years. Compare AD in NO to LeBron in Cleveland. Before LeBron, Cleveland was trash. After LeBron, Cleveland was trash. Twice! And he walked both times and they are empty handed. Now NO can lose AD, which will happen regardless but at least get some pieces back.

Media thinks it is between the Knicks and Lakers for AD. The NO coach likes the Lakers assets more but the NO owner does not want to do business with the Lakers. Will be an interesting trade battle.

AD made his bed, he could have turned down the extension. He signed the extension then decided he wanted out with nearly two years left on it, he saw what the Pelicans had done during his rookie deal, he could have moved on when that deal was up.

I think it's pretty rare for anyone to turn down their rookie extension. I could be wrong here but he would have been a restricted free agent anyways so even if he wanted out NO could match anyone's offer.

I just don't know where would he go or how much would an interested team be willing to give up for him.

Would a team like Denver give up a boatload of young players and picks to go all in on what might be a two or three year window to contend for a championship? Maybe, but I don't think so.

Feels crazy to say, but I'm not convinced there would be much a of a trade market for Lebron James if he told the Lakers he wanted out.

I could see East teams like Miami, Phila, NYK, maybe even Boston or Chicago.

I suppose it would depend on what kind of return the Lakers would want. If I'm an NBA GM I'm not selling the farm for 34 year old Lebron. He's at the point in his career now where he needs a team with someone else to carry the load during the regular season so he has something left for the playoffs. Not many teams fit that description, especially if they have to give up a boatload of assets to acquire him in the first place.

Someone would take a chance on him. He still sells tickets and merchandise.

They need a big move now, their window with CP3 and Harden is closing.
Good PGs are hard to find but at his age and salary CP3 is one of the worst assets in the NBA. John Wall is the worst. Some other bad ones out there but they don't murder the cap like Wall and CP3. The Rockets are stuck.

Still nothing definitive on Klay Thompson's availability for Game 3 tonight. Yesterday he said that if there was any pain at all he'd be a no-go. That makes me think that the Warriors are probably going to play it safe with him and hope to get him back for Game 4.

Huge game for the Raptors now. Presumably the Warriors are going to start getting healthier at some point. Lose this one to a KD and Klay Thompson-less Warriors team and they're cooked. Golden State is only going to get tougher to beat.

Steph Curry carries the ball so often and it is never called. That one at the end of the first quarter was so obvious and it cost the Raptors 3 points.
I think it was so egregious that the ref thought the ball got tipped or something.

Raptors should win this easily, these Warriors lineups are comically bad.

I don't GS at all but when their backs are against the wall, they are super fun to watch. They are shorthanded but Curry and Draymond are always going to make it interesting.

I'll assume that this lose is 100% on Curry just like it was 100% on LeBron whenever he loses.

Png

Steph Curry is the newest "face I most want to punch".

And that was a DAGGER of a 3pt.

It was fun to watch him try to carry a team of scrubs. Now he knows what it was like for LeBron against the Warriors the last four years. Not so easy when you're the only guy on your team who can make a play. Draymond Green has had a great playoff run but he sucked last night.

This. Soooooo much this.

Thompson expected to be back for Game 4. KD is a maybe. If Thompson goes but KD doesn't then the Raptors just might be able to go back to Toronto up 3-1 with three chances to close it out; two of them at home.

Usually Game 5 is the big swing game in a series but it kind of feels like Game 4 is make or break for Toronto. Win and you only have to get one out of three. Lose and now it's a best of three with the Warriors near full strength.
