Fifty-five home wins is a lot to ask especially when April is almost a third of the way over and they still haven't won a home game.
Because he has value and is only 1 year younger than Contreras.
I love the guy and, if I had any say, he'd be our catcher and Contreras would be in left, despite Contreras having an elite arm, because Caratini seems smarter with a bat than Schwarber/Happ.
That being said, this team has needs outside of a backup catcher and backup first baseman. Our outfield is absolute trash. And, like I said, I only see them trading him if it helps them make a move to improve the outfield i.e. Harper by freeing up Heyward.
Actually the fact we haven't played a home game yet helps, IMO. Wrigley is nicer in the summer.
Once again, you're basing this on NINE games. NINE. This is ridiculous. You're erasing Happ's good rookie season for NINE games using Caratini. You're throwing out Schwarber's up (2015/2016/late 2017) and down (first half of 2016/NINE games of 2018) career over NINE games.
Better trade or dump Trout and Stanton since they've been garbage over the first week as well.
It certainly means the potential for more beautiful days in the sun for the bleacher bums.
Well the positive side to Javy swinging as hard as he can every time is when he gets ahold of it, it makes for a fun time.

Anybody else having problems with the game tracker today? It kept putting up an "in play, out(s)" pitch. It was a few batters before I realized that it was doing it between the 2nd and 3rd pitch every time.
Why hasn't Navarro been leading off and playing 1st base after we lost Rizzo? Dude is batting 1.000!
When has Schwarber ever been good?
His 2015 stat line was his career best .246 BA when MLB pitchers and teams had never faced him before.
He was literally out all of 2016 except for going 0-5 in the regular season and going off in the World Series.
I don't recall a time he was ever "up" in 2017. He had a week or so when he was sent back to Iowa and came back and hit the snot out of the ball.
In my opinion, Cub fans still think he has this unreal potential, when all I see is a guy who can hit the ball really, really hard when he makes contact, but makes contact so rarely the point is moot.
Hoyer said he was frustrated with the offense and their lack of getting runs in. Cubs are worst in the league at scoring a runner from third with less than two outs (by a long shot) and 26th in simply advancing a runner from 2nd with less than two outs. The FO acknowledged this at their end of the year presser last year, and they're acknowledging it now.

Happ has the exact same value with a bat in his hand as Schwarber. I don't care if a runner is on first, second, or third, odds are very good they aren't advancing with these two at the plate unless it goes over the fence.
Schwarber in 2017: 9 games in which he recorded an RBI that he didn't hit a dinger. HE PLAYED IN 129 GAMES!!
My argument: I think this team would be unbelievably exciting if all 8 guys in our lineup could hit 25 homeruns a year. But Rizzo, Contreras, and Bryant are the only 3 that can manage to hit 25 homeruns a year and consistently produce runs in other ways as well. This team would be loads better with 2 guys that managed to do something other than hit dingers and provide mediocre defense.

Also - - as a disclaimer, I still think this team can win the World Series and think we will definitely make a run in the playoffs even if we make no moves. However, this team is far from as good as they could be, and I don't think we'll be looking back on the year thinking "phew, sure glad we had Happ and Schwarber on this squad" when it's all said and done.
I think Happ has much more upside than Schwarber. I was hoping we could have traded him last offseason while his value was still decent. I hope Happ sticks around, Schwarber I don't care if we trade or demote him.
