MLB: ***Official 2018 Chicago Cubs Season Thread***

The Pirates are 4-0 and leading the NL central. It's baseball. Over the course of the season the cream will rise to the top.

Chili Davis: "We are the Chicago Cubs. Guys are going to raise their game against us."

Really dude? Your hitters didn't just get shut down by the Marlins AND the Reds, they got embarrassed.

I don't think Maddon is doing anything wrong. I do, however, think this lineup has a HUGE, HUGE hole in it.

We went into the season with no leadoff hitter and knew we'd always have a hole in one of the 2-4 spots. I (personally) think KB, Rizzo, and Contreras should be 3-4-5, because if the first two guys get out, we're either starting the game with a 2 out rally or Rizzo is leading off the second inning.

Instead, if there are two outs and no one on, Rizzo goes to bomb mode and Contreras leads off the second.

And it may already be time to look at sending Happ to Iowa. Dudes only hit of the season was the first pitch of the season which was absolutely piped.

I wouldn't go that far. Isn't much to bring up from Triple A Iowa at the moment. Happ will get it going. Showed during sprint he's capable of going off.

I'd agree if the issues thus far weren't the exact things that plagued the Cubs last year. We have yet to face a pitcher that is even remotely worth a **** and we a striking out at a historic rate.

Joe's "everything is awesome" takes are fine and dandy, but at some point this team will need a kick in the *** if things don't look up. The strikeouts are remarkable. No one other than Zo willing to just work a count and shorten up his swing. Everyone else swinging out of their shoes, and no one of the coaching staff appears to be concerned by this.

Almora
Schwarber
Bryant
Rizzo
Contreras
Heyward
Russell
Baez
Pitcher

That would be the lineup I want to see trotted out most days at this point.

That point probably isn't five games into the season.
