Brase will be a good addition if healthy. Fits great in the offense as a stretch big man.

He had decent stats when healthy. But (obviously) it depends on his health. Princeton was 23-7 last year, 22-7 the year before. He averaged about 11.5ppg 6.5rpg when healthy. Career 35% 3pt shooter.
I like getting players who have played on winning teams. A 6'9 230lb kid could probably help us somewhere if healthy.
I think the reason many of us are so disappointed this spring is because, not that long ago, ISU was THE destination in the "transfer market" - we were sort of the trailblazers & every good transfer would at least take notice of us (and even often commit). Now that every other school is getting in on the transfer market, slimy recruiting tactics also come into play more and more. I'm not saying that every transfer we miss out on is because of "foul play," but it will continue to be a factor going forward - making it a little more difficult for us to get that uber-talented transfer. I think the staff have done a great job of identifying quality targets and trying to develop those relationships to get them to commit. Unfortunately, we seem to have missed out on the cream of the crop this year. I hope that the one(s) we end up with prove me wrong, and that, by this time next year, we'll actually be thankful that we didn't get Jui$ton or Brown.
I was googling a bit and it seems like there's approximately a 10% chance of tearing either ACL in the next couple of years. The chance of him tearing his other ACL seems to be higher than tearing the graft.
Is he still blocked even though he isn't a grad transfer?
He wouldn't be playing until 2018, I don't think, with 2 years left.
Well if the HS class of 2018 is as good as it was this year, i don't mind Prohm having more scholarships for next year. could also leave one open for mid year transfer.
Either way I'd hope the staff has their sights set on better targets than a sit 1 play 1 transfer who only put up 6 ppg in the Missouri Valley conference.
The whole mid year transfer thing gets way over blown. There really aren't that many quality guys that fall into that category.
I agree. It's very hit or miss. In a good year, you may have 1-2 worthy mid-year transfers.
If you have an open scholarship, that does go a long way though (even though our last two walked on for a semester).
I don't see Prohm being a big "mid year" guy. There is usually a reason a lot of these guys are either leaving their team mid year or were asked to leave. Just my opinion but I think Prohm will take the "safer" route regarding the transfer market and target grad transfers or guys looking for a better fit. At his point with our program, risk isn't really worth reward like it was in the past.
There aren't many but there are some good ones and to be one of the teams to have an available scholarship at least gives you a chance. KU got Sam Cunliffe. Marquette got Harry Froling. Isaac Copeland went to Nebraska. Those are the ones I can remember.
Burton was a mid year guy as was McKay. Neither of those scenarios were the case.
I think that's maybe a bit myopic. We think we were THE destination, but we really just had that one big year. Heck, we were known for guys transferring out under McDermott.

This has been known for a while. We met with him and essentially stopped contact after that.Looks like were out with him too.

McKay got the Marquette and what they wanted him to do was totally different from what they told him during recruiting. He transferred after a couple practices.
Burton was a mid year guy and I think it was because of the coaching change and tired of sitting on the bench.
That's not exactly true. We did a great job of getting discounted goods. We never landed the premium guys and usually had a very solid pre-existing connection. I do think they closed better and didn't go all-in on a group in which we were the underdogs on all of them. They also had the benefit of a "burn" year- next season would be better if we had added three good rs transfers last spring.
But if McD and Creighton can have a transfer haul, so can we. Many schools are going after transfers now, but there are also more transfers. The number of schools with 13 scholarships hasn't increased.
Makes sense when you have world beaters like Beverly and Brase.....
I read that Alstork wasn't exactly the worlds greatest teammate. Maybe our staff decided that the potential headache outweighed the talent.
Fair enough. I still hope the staff banks a scholarship in case a real good opportunity comes along at semester since our options are fairly limited at the moment. Which could change I guess, never know.
