***Official 2017 Transfer Thread***

I'd give him a scholarship just so he doesn't go to UNI and beat us. But seriously, I would offer him a scholarship without thinking twice if he decided to transfer. We get 13 scholarships, but they don't need 13 star players. A 6'9" guy that you know can play at a weak high-major level like the B10 is pretty valuable. We know he's been well-coached cause Miles is a good coach. And he'd probably love it to be @ISU which is always a good thing.

Plus, ISU has the scholarships (and an excuse of a rebuilding year) to afford to take 1-2 situout guys this year if Prohm wants to.
Plus he can still **** Iowa.

Don't think ISU will even be an option with conference transfer rules but a big transfer name regardless.

Is Mack the kid he brought along after he had committed to VCU first and re-opened? Or was Mack already at Texas when Smart go there. Sorry, I lose track of Texas talent.

Mack committed to VCU and Shaka and then followed him to Texas. Never played at VCU.

Deonte Hawkins at Illinois State was a PQ out of prep school (I think the one in New Providence, Iowa). He would have a long list of options if he were to end up a grad transfer this spring/summer.

what do you mean "if he were to end up" a grad transfer? You are just throwing names out of possible, but yet unannounced grad transfers? Or you know this player?

Which reminds me, do college staffs actually sniff out guys ahead of time that have been at a school with a redshirt, meaning they are going into a 5th year grad transfer, and try to poach them?

There shouldn't be any direct contact with players on team before they announce their intent to transfer.
That said, usually transfers end up with a coach or assistant coach that originally recruited them out of HS. I think it is pretty evident that word would be provided both ways to see what options the player has through AAU coaches and family members. Any player looking to change schools and play would want to know the options they have before attempting to transfer.

I thought so. But certainly its not followed by moving assistants.

And that never gets followed

It means I'm throwing out names of guys that have played 3 years of college ball but are possibly seniors in the classroom. Imo every staff has a list of such players.

Didn't Fred and company take a long look at him out of HS? Was he the other guy that we looked at taking from Dayton other than Percy?
