Official 2014 Recruiting thread

It's a crap shoot outside the five star guys. There's no telling how a guy will develop, and how dedicated they will be. I'm just stoked we go for guys with height and speed now and build them up. Yancy is going to have us looking like we pull in a bunch of four and five star guys here in a few years... And hopefully that leads to us actually pulling some in.

Very surprised, Minnesota may be one of the lamest Big Ten fan bases. No one cares about them up here. I would of wanted to play for a fan base that comes out to see me if i was a player. JMO
 
Since the current staff isn't very good at closing on kids with other options I'm not surprised Elmore isn't coming to ISU. Minny is a surprise though.

I'm not sure that has a lot to do with the staff - more to do with ISU's national perspective and (lack of) history. Give the the staff enough time, they will change both.
 
12 of 25 from last year had other BCS offers. It's not great but for a lower level BCS school historically it's probably about right. Stop being a Debbie downer.
 
1 out of 7 of our current recruits had a BCS offer when they committed. The LB from Wisky did get a Pitt offer after he committed.

Debunk at all you want in you're own mind, but we generally aren't signing kids other BCS schools want. I don't know why people get so bent out of shape over it.

We are going to need the Elmore type recruits to get to the at 8 or 9 win threshold.

And save the Campos and other one off comparisons. If you want to go name for name, you are going to lose.

A lot of those offers are also "reported". I'm talking about kids like Elmore, Campos,Cheadle or even Lazard where other BCS schools are actively recruiting them.
 
11 of 22 the year before. And to say offers after the fact don't count is asinine. Just because we identified and offered first doesn't mean we should be penalized for it.

I'm not penalizing ISU for it. Identifying someone first should be commended. I said ISU isn't good at closing when other BCS schools are actively recruiting the player. You are trying to counter an argument I didn't make or you are unable to follow, which is asinine.
