Official 2014 Recruiting thread

Could you imagine running a wildcat with Wimberly, Mister, and Jones all in the backfield at once? It isn't very realistic, but one can dream

I don't really like how this coaching search is going down. I was fine with it at first but the more I think about it, there's no reason to sit around like this. You aren't hiring a BCS coordinator so it's not like there is anything wrong on the other end.

Uh...what? Sorry, in the first place, I don't really understand the sentence. In the second...how do you know that we're not hiring a "BCS coordinator"--whatever you meant by that?

Odd time for a running back visit with no running back coach or offensive coordinator.
Yeah, I guess having him in town to witness a wild game in an energized Hilton when we beat an instate rival would seem "odd"...to some people.

Phrased it wrong. We aren't hiring a guy coordinating an offense in a big bowl game. Perhaps a position coach but not a coordinator. OSU hired Herman before he was done. We should be doing the same thing. Really, I can see no reason for either side to be dragging it out until mid January. Last time we did this we ended up with a mess.

I used "odd" because it sounded better than stupid. Hilton will be no less energized after ISU hires a position coach and coordinator.

I'll try to explain better, then.

Rather than offer a flippant answer, I'll point out that the point of an official visit is to tour the campus, and speak with potential professors and academic advisors. As well, the player and their family have input in when an official visit is made, i.e., at their convenience.

Frankly, speaking with an OC or RB coach is a relatively minor consideration that can be accommodated any time after the position is filled. After all, a player commits to the university, the program and the head coach--though not necessarily in that order.

I hope that helps your understanding a bit. Sorry I don't have time to elaborate further.

By BCS coordinator, I think he meant one of the handful of coordinators left to play in their bowl game, as if the bowl game was the major hang up in getting the announcement made.

Isn't the BCS championship game week sort of a convention of college football coaches? Maybe he will be meeting Mr. Right at the Rose Bowl.

A lot of NFL shake ups just happened there will be some college coaches that take the leap and others yet will into current vacancies and some college coaches creating more movenent and shake ups at the oc and posituin coach level. Also possible we have our guy and he is doing some deadperiod talking. There will be additional coaches on the market over the next week or so though. It may be in vain but Mister is the only potential casualty and if the guy is right it wont matter "mr." will come back.

How strongly is Jones actually considering ISU now that he has these big offers? He has visited but we don't have his position coach even hired yet. Hope somehow we can land him but I have my doubts.
