Bubble Games:

St. John's vs Villanova- loss puts Villanova in trouble.
Boise St. vs San Diego St.- loss puts Boise St. in trouble.
Oregon St. vs Colorado- loss hurts Colorado's seed.

People are free to think differently, but St. John's-Villanova is a case where I prefer to root for the favorite.

'Nova is, at the moment, "in," (possibly more safely than ISU); a win over SJU wouldn't boost the resume much, a loss wouldn't drag it down a ton; could still get an at-large regardless.

St. John's is barely hanging by a thread, needs several bigs wins, possibly would need to somehow win the auto. As unlikely as that would be, it's possible, and I'd rather have one team absolutely out. Tomorrow I'll root against Villanova vs. UL.

I took a similar view with UC-Providence game.

I'd probably do it the opposite if Villanova seemed closer to a last four in.

And as I said, it's possible to make an argument the other way.

don't think St. John's has a chance unless they get to the final. Have to beat Louisville which is unlikely.

Villanova's RPI will take a big hit, ISU would jump over them if they lose IMO.

That's the other way to view it.

I realized after my post, I suppose it depends on if the focus is more about a seeding position or if there's more a concern of being left out.

Way it's looking now, Villanova's winning this one, so best case w/ this is a loss to Louisville and Iowa State getting at least the OU game.

Man I can't wait for selection Sunday to be over, really getting tired of all these experts changing their minds every 5 seconds.

Bucknell is in. Patriot league tourney champion.

Ok guys, Im up on this but you guys a LEAGUES over my head with the up/down wins we need. I watch this thread like a hawk, as soon as the games clear tonight post games that had implications for us what we wanted and who won and how bad/good it affects us.

Please, with sugar!

It's been a pretty decent day so far. All the favorites have won, which is not a bad thing. We still have the big MWC matchup later.

Things pick up tomorrow quite a bit with several bubble teams in action. Only one auto-bid up for grabs from the Patriot League. Bubble watch for Wednesday with teams to cheer for in bold.

9:00 PM Update - Winners in red

Big East
Cincinnati vs Providence- Cincy solidifies its bid. Helps ISU's RPI marginally

St John's vs Villanova - Villanova is in.

MWC
UNLV vs Air Force - Air Force is done. UNLV helps ISU's RPI marginally

SDSU vs Boise State - This is a big one, probably the biggest bubble game of the day. A win likely puts Boise in, Go Aztecs. Late tip at 11 pm on CBS Sports

PAC 12
Colorado vs Oregon State - Like Cincy, Colorado solidifies its at-large bid.

Patriot Championship
Bucknell vs Lafayette - Bucknell avoids the bubble

Going back a few pages to the discussion on VCU....it comes down to turnovers (obviously). I believe I saw a stat that said VCU is 24-0 this season when forcing 15+ turnovers and 0-7 when forcing fewer than 15. It would appear 15 is that magic number. Is Iowa State capable of keeping turnovers below 15? Absolutely. But in a one game situation anything can happen.

But to be honest, does Iowa State have a whole lot to worry about? Not really. These games affect teams like Iowa, or ASU.

I'd be surprised if we are out with a loss, but I worry about the play in game. I want a win tomorrow and then maybe I'll stop worrying. I am quite a nervous person tonight.

If status quo holds for the most part in the rest of the tournaments, ISU is probably in decent position. If an unusual amount of strangeness takes place, with auto-bids and/or bubble teams notch high-impact wins, it could lead to some discomfort.

(That's the concise version)

I just want to win tomorrow. If that happens, then it doesn't matter what happens in the conference tournaments. If we lose, I'm going to be sweating my *** off on selection sunday.
