Not a bad loss at all

Dropped to 12 in the AP. Kinda bs that UNC is quite a bit higher with the same loss plus another to unranked UT.

The thing is, I really don't think ISU took UNI lightly, at least they shouldn't have. There was an article on this site before the game where Georges was quoted, after seeing UNI beat UNC in person, that ISU was going to have to bring their "A" game to win (which he did minus the turnover at the end). I think UNI's hot shooting from the outside may have left ISU a bit shell-shocked in the first half, and maybe launching all the threes (and hitting very few of them) was the only way for us to catch up on the scoreboard, even when scoring from the post was more effective.

I agree I don't think there was anything to Iowa State taking UNI lightly. That's because they do it all the time regardless of the competition. This is who they are and they aren't going to change. Anybody holding on to the pipe dream of a conference championship or deep run in the tourney needs to lower their expectations.

Considering that UNI is looking like a good bet to be ranked for the rest of the season and earn a top-5 seed in the tourney, I highly doubt the committee is going to be counting this as a bad loss.

I know losing a game isn't fun, but jesus, people. Pull yourselves together.
Bahhahahahhahahahhahah

jesus man, I know being a top 5 Iowa fan is high praise, but Jesus man, pull yourself together

This is heading towards an ugly loss. I can't believe it's only early January and UNI already has 7 losses. It's pretty much a matter if UNI can make the CIT tournament or not.

But that is the problem with this team. I don't see where they have ever learned anything from their past losses. They certainly didn't last year.....since they trailed in 5 games in a row by double digit that they were fortunate to pull out in the end. You would have thought somewhere in those 5 games they would have figured out that it is not good to get down double digits to other teams, but no......here they are again this year doing the same thing.

You might think they would have learned not to take any team lightly with their loss to UAB last year.......a game that they lead or were at least tied in for 27 of the 40 minutes. A game that even though ISU shot terribly, the other team shot even worse, yet the other team won. Watching how some of the games against lesser opponents this year started out at least.....it seems the team has not learned anything from that loss either.

Despite all the evidence to the contrary, this team still seems to think it can just show up and win, at least eventually. That is an attitude that will almost guarantee failure.

Wow. Man...how many high major season grinds have you played in? They learn a lot from losses, especially watching lots of game film, working on mistakes, etc , win or lose. And just maybe the other team is playing at a high level, too. Should Marquette win at Providence? Should LSU have beaten 9th ranked UK by almost 20? How does Utah beat Duke, yet start the conference 0-2 against no ranked team?

I wonder if Virginia fans are sitting around today saying their team must have thought they could 'just show up' and beat Virginia Tech Monday night (you know, that team ISU led by 30 pts.) ?

Sorry...but I just don't get how people think it should be so easy for a team to win a college basketball game. Or that they should automatically win or dominate just because they're the ranked team.

Wow...UNI probably won't even make the NIT this year. and they have 2 top 5 wins..lol

Just goes to show you when you shoot like that and win by 2 while we can't make a 3 anything can happen.

in the coaching biz...thats called "Fools gold"

Really wish we had Burton for that game.

Ancient history like McKay not being able to make freethrows or Thomas clanking threes.

Time to bring the spiderman gifs and memes.

We did... he scored 7 points.

I'd like to apologize to Iowa State and Carolina for costing you a seed line in March. We're the most mentally weak, inconsistent team on the planet.

Washpun has played hard in all of two games this year, I bet you can guess which ones. I totally understand why Cuonzo didn't want him around anymore.

Sorry. Forgot the sarcasm pirate. I meant the new burton. That was the first game burton. No chemistry and with naz etc.
