This always makes me chuckle................talk about telling yourself what you want to hear. ISU fans say, just win baby, and then one pops in with the obligatory “January Bowl comment” and another tosses in the “just above .500 comment”
Honestly the media perpetuates the January Bowl thing so your gripe is with them………In central Iowa, that "media" is often Jon Miller. And that's not a shot at Jon, but he has the morning show on KxNO, and does the updates on WHO. He is, in fact, media and a Hawk fan. And I've heard many Hawk fans recite the January Bowl line over and over.
The just above .500 thing would be laughable oi some ISU fans didn’t actually believe it….In 2007 if Iowa fans used back history there’d have been a “foul” called, but now since we were 9-4 last year I guess it’s ok to go back a few years…….hmmmmmm I think this is a valid point, Chad.
Finally the media reports what they think is news worthy and ANOTHER Iowa arrest is that for sure. As a general rule though they don’t care outside the state. If you are finding they do it is because you are fishing for it plain and simple. They don’t report Alcohol related offenses if it is 1 or 2 or even 5 at ISU or IU or Minne, etc……………No one cars and it isn’t an epidemic. But some have made national news.
Yes Iowa has been an epidemic and it is indeed news worthy. It isn’t however earth shattering. Nor really was the credit card deal……………….nor was the drug situation. All together it is a lot definitely. The supreme irony here is Douglass and Bowman were 2 of our 3 or 4 best WR and they got suspended even before it was brought to trial, yet KF doesn’t discipline. Honestly 90% of everyone on both sides only sees what they want. I respect those that see it all and there are some ISU fans on here who do just that
What would you do…………………………I know as a parent I wouldn’t blame the coaches, but hey that’s just me. I’m big on “personal” accountability, not institutionalized. Agree on personal responsibility, but leadership has to enter into the equation at some point.
