NIT this year,

I have to admit, when I read the OP, I glossed over the Elite 8 part — mainly saw "maybe NIT" part.

I've seen quite a few posts where fans said this is a 10-win season, but next year could be really good. And I think it'll be somewhere in the middle — this year might not be as awful as people think, next year could be much better, but probably still only modest success.

So which is more unrealistic as a hope (not an expectation): NIT this season, or Elite 8 next season?

I was fairly explicit that your intent was not to incriminate all fans. However, to answer your questions, intent never exonerates the writer of any post.

Well, yeah I guess it is a predictable rebuttal, if only because it so clearly and simply backs up my argument. You asked me to show you where you claimed I was referring to the entire fanbase. I pointed out a post where you claimed exactly that, and that somehow invalidates it?

And I love how you cry "hyperbole" in an attempt to defend the superlative content in your own posts. And yet, when it comes to mine, your interpreted "degree of evangelicalism" makes them apply to all fans even when the content specifies otherwise. How convenient for you.

If this year's team gets anything over 12/4 conference wins this year, Fred should get conference coach of the year. With all the new faces and a new coach who has not coached a single college game I don't see how the most optimistic fans could expect more. I like the looks of this group, and have high hopes for Fred. I think at the very least, they are going to be entertaining, but I can't imagine a winning season.

If we make the NIT, Fred should be national coach of the year.

Fred will do well to go .500 next year. It will be tough.

i just hope we can get back to the tourny next year. that would be something. elite 8? i would be more surprised by that then if i woke up with my head sewn to the carpet.

And I would buy Elite 8 in the B12... At least thats a reasonable expectation.

I think everyone would be wise to think that we are going to be bad----2009-2010 Iowa bad. Just get that in your head.

It is going to be annoying when we lose to a team that is better than us (I think Creighton and UNI are both better teams) and you all lose your ****.

I think that brighter days are ahead, but let's not saddle Hoiberg with unrealistic expectations just because we've been bad for 4 years. The last 4 years weren't his fault.

The Cyclone MBB team is not going to be that bad this year simply due to having a better guard court than the SUI MBB team did last year. The team may not be pretty at times, but it will be far from the fugly Hawkeyes of 09-10.

I think the NIT is out of the question. Anymore the NIT is full of teams that win 20+ games. I just don't see that this season.

If we finish 11th or 12th in the Big 12 we aren't going to any postseason...
