I get that, but I feel like people were complaining about the numbers in 2013. Not sure what they could do differently. Maybe I’m misremembering and the complain was something else.

I think that Michigan got away with their throwback not having numbers one time and the NCAA cracked down.

In that brief span (2011-12), there were 3 Adidas schools -- all in the B1G -- that got away with the "giant front letter/tiny number" combo.

Just because it is accurate, does not mean it is a good look. The red on yellow/grey is hard to read, and the brown/yellow/brown is just a bad look. Plus there is no chance they use one of their helmet options for the year on a one-off brown helmet.

Wouldn't hold my breath for the all golds though. Campbell has superstition after they got cleaned in the MAC championship game wearing yellow for the first time.

Good thing we don’t have to worry about playing for the MAC championship, then.

The superstition thing about colors might be valid, I don't know. Let's see, a lot of good that did the coaching staff with the all-blacks recently, and the w/c/w, etc. Just off the top of my head.

If Campbell doesn't like gold, I get it. If he doesn't like OUR yellow/gold, I get that too. More reason to add to our current gold palette, the sunflower gold from the 70's.

Because they had just seen Michigan, Wisconsin and Nebraska get away with the tiny numbers the two seasons prior.

People also forget that Iowa's throwbacks in 2012 against ISU had the same regulation-size numbers (exact same, by the looks of it) that ISU's did in 2013. Neither effort looked particularly good, thanks to having to put a white number over a gold background design.

I wish they would use this script Cyclones more. A version of the helmet with a retro Cy and/or the Curved Cyclones would look cool. On any of the colors, would not have to be a Gold helmet like the 80s, Throwing the curved Cyclone logo on a black helmet or Cardinal one would look good too as this pennant does.

I like the look of this script logo better than the block Cyclones of the modern logos. At least I would like to see it used more, as an alternate.

I missed this one. It's not horrible, but in design terms, it's not good. Any credibility to this one-off design is lost when the white number overlaps the gold. Just makes you wonder who designs these things.

The thin black outline on Ohio State’s numbers makes a bigger difference than you’d think. Also the white/gray contrast works better than the white/gold … but outlining the numbers really helps them pop more.

He doesn't like yellow because they begged him all year to wear yellow at Toledo and he did for championship game and they got spanked. Kind of dumb IMO but losing to PJ Fleck would traumatize me as well.

Not at all - Ohio State's TBs were a much better quality - better tailoring & material - the outline makes a big difference on the numbers - our previous Trice TBs were literally screen printed on the same jerseys we use for practice - a Power 5 team couldn't do much worse

Good point re: the brown helmets, but I would assume this is not a one off - I expect a Jack Trice game every October

BUT, if a yearly game is not the plan, MAYBE we get a GOLD HELMET that they can reuse (I would prefer a gold helmet, even though it may not be historically accurate)

All this does is get me fired up about how much I loathe Wisconsin's motion W. Such a bad logo and so dated. At least they've been working on incorporating this one into more things:

Lips are sealed pretty tight on this. Uniforms won't be a repeat of 2013 or anything Kagavi created. Expecting something with Iowa State College or Ames on the uniforms with some simple colors.
