New Uniforms Revealed

This is correct - if the same decal were on the other side, it would be correct

If the same replica decal was on the other side, it would still be wrong. The tornado pointed to the right on both sides, never to the left.

There was no flipped/inverted decal for the tornado era. There was one for the swirlybird era, though, as Cy faced "forward" on both sides. The logo on the left side of the helmet (Seth Zehr #58 for reference here) was the only approved usage of the swirlybird logo that faced to the left.

Correct, if you look at the helmet wall, the actual tornado is flipped backwards, under the Iowa State. You can tell by the way the top fits under the words. The decal is just wrong.

Wow, you folks are right - they only flipped the tornado around - that's weird that they did that - it must have been created from scratch...

Here's another look side-by-side (albeit on different colors)

That logo direction is confusing because there are two separate things happening that could alter it:
  • Whether the tail is facing the helmet-front or the back.
  • Connection point for top-of-funnel to the lettering (actual version it has to connect with the "a" in State).

I am curious to see what a script "Cyclones" helmet would look like if the colors were switched (primary cardinal with gold script letters)
I bet it would look pretty fire with a white shadow - wish I had the PS skills to make this happen...

Ummm…. is the guy on the left wearing a black jersey with a gray/silver collar and number, or is it just the lighting?

Agree.

Maybe. Maybe not. He's also not the perfect uniform designer, some of us were thinking he was, the first year or three after he was hired.

Consider the anthrocite gray, the black collar, the lack of even a trace of white (with cardinal jersey).

I don't dislike these at all, and am neutral as to a future throwback. As people have mentioned, the color variations could be easily fixed.

Two things though: 1) I had never noticed how different and 'bleached out' the "number" cardinal looks with these. It's much worse than just lighting variations that @CyValley might have suggested, IMO. And yes, when you are aware of it, it looks pretty off. 2) I have only noticed "3" gold color variations, not that it really needs further debate. I don't see the 4th.

Black collar jerseys were the best since 1978.

Looks gray/silver to me. Maybe we are the Raiders now...
The black jerseys do have a gray collar, but the numbers just look like the filter or lighting is just making it look more light/gray silver - the numbers are definitely white in another photo he (#90) posted (the one where he's "dunking" in front of the helmet wall - posted earlier in this thread)
