I don't think we are getting a gold/yellow helmet. That would make 4 helmets. One too many to maintain and take care of. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

Gold pants is a very real possibility, IMO. Our '70's gold would be best IMO, sunflower gold, whatever you want to call it. Try a C/C/G combo with a gold facemask on cardinal helmet. Keep our current gold for the numbers in the cardinal jersey, logo, some trim.

Yes. We have had 4 helmets. The season ending with the Liberty bowl v Memphis (Added chrome helmet). Then I think we wore the chrome helmets 2x the following year.

I assume we ditched the chrome helmets b/c the chrome itself is difficult to maintain. It has a tendency to chip & shatter. If I recall, DM lost a big chunk off the crown of his helmet during the Liberty Bowl.

I agree, the cost may be prohibitive. Also, a lot of people on CF believe Coach Campbell hates yellow & it kinda seems like maybe he does.

We also had the matte-cardinal, but I don't know if that has been used in same season w/ all of chrome, black (with regular I-State), the black-out main helmet, the Black-logo-on-white and the regular cardinal & white lids.

At varying points thru past 3 or 4 seasons we already have had 7(?) variations?

Edit: Maybe matte-red was pre-Campbell (or first year)?

That's interesting. I didn't know they were hard to maintain (chrome) other than they were a 4th helmet.

I kinda thought we didn't see much more than 2-3 games (total) with them because they were a brighter shade of red and didn't match well. That would have been easily solved if whoever ordered them ordered a darker shade of red to compensate for the greater light reflection off of them. The end result is to have a helmet that "looks" just slightly darker than the cardinal jersey or pant. Lighter is not good.

Can you imagine changing all our signage, and branding from the current yellow to a darker gold? It isn't happening especially with our current AD, nor should it. Adding a secondary darker shade of gold is a real possibility however. Also I like the snappiness of the current yellow. I wouldn't want to do away with that permanently.

When Iowa State released that throwback screen saver with the gold ballon a month or two ago, I had a feeling we might see those jerseys for one game this year.

But I assume if it occurred, it's a reference to a combo involving gold jerseys, which I haven't seen anyone advocating in this thread.

Yeah- in 2007 or whenever this came out, it was absolutely blasted by our fanbase and the plans were ditched based on the harsh feedback at the time

See the "Chrome gold" in the logo and stipe here? What if we used that instead of yellow gold?
Similar to the red chrome we have had.

I dont know. Just an idea. I think we need some gold options at least a gold helmet, and accents in our Whites and Reds to tie it all together. Possibly a gold pant, but even that is not totally necessary, with some gold accents to tie things together, with a gold helmet.

For some reason (I have my theory) the current all gold/yellow for BB is fine and I don't mind it, in fact I kinda like it.

For FB, the current gold/yellow does not look good for large swaths of color (i.e., jersey, pant, helmet, JMO).

University colors on the top, athletics on the bottom - I would say our uniforms look more like the university cardinal than the athletics cardinal - athletics cardinal looks almost magenta to me

I did these late last, earlier this year, re-worked the cardinal color that I think is more accurate of what we have, keeping the current yellow for the numbers, some trim. My yellow/gold might even have a bit more yellow (brighter) than what we have on paper, because that is what it often looks like on the field/court. The pants in #2 and helmet in #3 reflect the '70's gold or sunflower gold that we used to have. I am proposing that we add that back to our color palette while also keeping the current yellow/gold.
