New Uniforms Revealed

The only thing with the white pants is that there is no cardinal or gold on them so to me they don't really mesh well with the cardinal top. And the cardinal top has no white in it either. Wish the pants had some cardinal accents to it instead of being all white. But what can ya do

The Nike display would lead me to believe that the uniforms may not have a lot of changes or surprises in store for the year. The scarlet chrome helmet isn’t included, so, who knows?

I’m gonna take a wild guess that if they have a set (or two) of alts they want to surprise the players and fans with, they aren’t going to put them in a display.

Doesn’t it typically take a few years to make New Jersey’s happen, and for the most part it’s a certain few templates with different colors/logos? Throughout all of college?

I fully expect the Jack Trice symbol on our helmet soon.

And I agree there could be a surprise that’s not on the wall. That’s more of an everyday display that you can see different combinations of.

You essentially renew uniforms with Nike like you renew a contract. So every 4 years er so, the schools like ISU, Iowa, etc renew jerseys. Any big changes to the base uniform design will be made after that time period. Now, that doesn’t mean you can’t get some alternate uniforms thrown in every year. Very expensive though and you usually have to buy helmets to go along with the alternates if you want to do it right, and most schools run some sort of marketing campaign alongside the “new” uniforms.

Obviously the “elite” Nike schools are able to roll out new uniforms left and right in basketball and football and don’t wait that 4 year or whatever period. I’d expect new football uniforms in 2 years (however I do think we’ll get a nice alternate this year or next) and then basketball will get new uniforms for 2022 and we'll definitely be getting a black uniform and I’m hoping a throwback.

I'm hoping for an alternate this year. I'd think we could do something with one of the existing helmets - we have 4 to choose from (red, white, black, chrome) so I'd think they could do something using one of them as a base with a different decal set to save a little $$.

Just a side question if anyone knows - what's the typical life span of a uni set for players? I'd think linemen would go through a couple of jerseys in a season, other positions may vary and of course playing time makes a huge difference.

I need the Trice throwbacks at least once this season.

Do them several times in ‘23 like they did the Blacks in ‘20 is fine with me, but at least once this season.
 
I dont mind the current Istate, I also dont mind the current Tornado Cy, without the blue and the words like the 90s. They need to use the tornado Cy as a secondary logo on a helmet sometime I think.

I think the Trice Logo is perfect. I dont think it would work as a main helmet logo on the side, but could be used on the front, back or some form of stripe design.

But they also need to bring back the retro logos too, I love the Orr Cyclone, the retro walking Cy, and the 80s curved Cyclones logos. I think the colors of some of the retro logos are a challenge with the current color palette though.
