First thing I knew as a 90s kid too. I thought it was the bees knees till the " I State" logo came out and there was no navy blue involved. My buddy brought his old football with the twister logo to have Brock and Breece sign and they were enamored with it. So what do I know lol
All my frat friends love the swirly bird logo and I cannot for the life of me understand it. Maybe I'd like it a bit more if the navy blue was replaced, but damn it makes me quesy looking at it.

I think text free and Navy-blue-for-golf-polo-marketing-free it is still cool. Even if confusing to non-locals...

It was so bad. But, it was the 90's and a lot of schools/Pro-teams had major changes to logos during that time.
Yeah my friend had it on his tailgating bus - with consistent colors it can still look great. At least worth keeping around for the alternate logo archives/throwback t-shirts (as long as they still avoid the blue), I think.I really like that! Guess it's not the swirly bird, just the navy blue I don't like.

Not sure the cardinal then was darker then. It was a different shade. Don't think the yellow was less bright then either. A lot of pics, including the link you have here, look like there are different shades going on, but they are probably due to sun. lighting, and shading.this darker red and less bright yellow was better:2004-2006

Looks cools on the black carbon fiber background. We will see it soon again.Still a sucker for the Jack Trice logo. If I could change it to our main logo I would.
Simple, meaningful, and a little subtle.

Not ISU but looks like UNI could be wearing a new helmet versus us on 9/4:
It’s right above the facemaskLooks cools on the black carbon fiber background. We will see it soon again.
Will it just be on the helmet, or will it also be on the jersey like last year? Hoping for the latter!
Respectable but we have multiple logos better IMO. It’s the walking Cy…….. and then a fight for a distant second.I think text free and Navy-blue-for-golf-polo-marketing-free it is still cool. Even if confusing to non-locals...

Yes I saw that/am aware of that. That will probably be and look good. It’s right above the facemask
I gotta believe it will continue to be on chest of jerseyYes I saw that/am aware of that. That will probably be and look good.
What I was alluding to is that they keep the Trice logo on the jersey also. I'm hoping they keep that as a permanent part of the jersey.
I guess I can be happy that, atleast for now, it will be in the uniform, somewhere, hopefully forever.
Might be an unpopular opinion but Twirly Bird Cy is one of my favorite Iowa State logos. It was so bad. But, it was the 90's and a lot of schools/Pro-teams had major changes to logos during that time.
I mean, go into any ISU store and try to find "vintage wear." The walking cy, leaning cy, and the 80's tornado are in demand. The swirly bird logo? Nowhere to be seen. (Thank goodness.) It hasn't aged well, nor will it ever.
The I-State logo is so ******* awesome. Very traditional looking and should be the main mark for ISU forever going forward.
Maybe it's just because I wasn't around as an Iowa state fan (I was a HOK fan growing up...whoops) during the blue and spinning Cy, but I have a weird obsession with vintage clothes with that logo and color scheme. I'm glad they aren't on the team uniforms anymore but if I find a piece of clothing with the spinning Cy or blue on it you bet your ass I'm buying it.So glad ISU ditched the Spinning bird thing.
