As an art director and someone living LA the similarities of colors and logos of these two teams has really bothered me since the minute they both came here. Even when the chargers were still in SD it's still almost in the same city (2.5 hour drive) to have such a similar look.

It's incredible to believe that rebranding of either team isn't primarily focused on making a contrast, especially in a huge city that is so blah about sports.

Separate owners/organizations, neither probably wanted to be the one who gave in to the other. Rams seem to be the golden child and feel entitled to keep their colors and look; and Chargers are the stepchild, so they probably have a chip on their shoulder and want to hold fast on their colors and look.

I'm sure that is it. The thing is that this is the perfect town to try a completely new look because people really don't give a ****.

Even as a sports fan in the know here, if I'm somewhere with a TV that's far away you really can't tell which local team is being covered.

I've heard that about LA. Is it the same in San Diego? I've been in San Diego on gamedays when the Chargers were in town playing and the bars we'd go to in Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, Pacific Beach were pretty full of die-hard fans.

You notice USC fans out and about a little on Saturdays, nothing for UCLA/Chargers/Rams and I live pretty close to UCLA.

Lakers is the only visible fan presence.

They are both historically generally blue and generally yellow/gold.

Those are going to conflict on some level.

Imagine if 99% of the people in Iowa couldn't give a **** about Cardinal and Gold or Black and Gold...and ISU and Iowa had near identical colors and near identical helmet logos. It would make sense for one or both to change it up.

People in Iowa probably care more about the Rams and Chargers colors than Angelenos.

Problem solved. :D

Rams fan here, absolutely hated when they went to the Navy and "Notre Dame" Gold after winning the SB in St Louis. Not really a fan of the white they have been using since going back to LA even though I know that was the "original" logo color. Love the classic Bright Blue and Yellow/Gold that they wore when they won the Super Bowl. As others mentioned, when quickly glancing at a game on TV, those uni's instantly say Rams, no matter what city they are currently representing. I may be wrong but I think the Rams curved horn helmet is one of the top 5 most recognized symbols in the world. Right there with the McDonalds arches.

BTW...I guessed wrong on the original question which to me is a HUGE problem.

Bucs new uniforms basically the same as their Super Bowl era ones:

Much better step back to previous years IMO. Not a huge fan of the bronze jersey though, tough color to try to match the helmet on.

Yeah, this is generally speaking a tasteful update of their "classic" (at least by Buccaneer standards) 90s and early 00s uniforms that they won a trophy in.

I would much prefer teams are wearing something like that (e.g., the Vikings are a similar concept) to the cartoony nonsense many of them wear.

I am glad the Uni Watch leaks were accurate. Hopefully Cleveland and the LA Rams are going to release something similar in the next few weeks.

Falcons release sometime this month as well. Hoping it’s also going back to something similar to their previous uniform set (the 1990s silver and black), only also incorporating a red similar to their 1980s set.

This is still their best look --

I never liked their black helmets. A black logo on red helmets with a black jersey is them at their best, kind of like UGA with a black alternative jersey but better at it.

A gentle modernization of that (again, like the new Bucs or Vikings) would be great.
