You don't think a guy that works hard that will eventually grow into his body, and that is 7'1 doesn't have pro opportunities in the US?
Doubtful a European leaves early for the D-league, but we all know it is plausible that after a couple years of giving the college ball a try he heads back home to make good money.

He's buiilt more like a guard than a center. Maybe he could be the world's first 7 foot pg? All kidding aside, it would take a lot for him to turn into a unmovable shot blocker.

lol not Redshirting. Why do people always think that's an option?

Plenty of Big 12 players red shirt. In the past two seasons here is the list of Big 12 players that red shirted not due to injury or transfer rules, but instead due to developmental purposes or the fact that they had better players in front of them that season:

Sherron Dorsey-Walker-SG-Iowa St
Allerik Freeman-SG-Baylor
Johnathan Motley-PF-Baylor
Chad Rykhoek-C-Baylor
Landen Lucus-C-Kansas
D.J. Bennett-PF-Oklahoma
Jeffrey Carroll-SF-Oklahoma St

Even though it's not overly common for a player to red shirt, it's still a possibility.

I know we all hate the Woodbury comparisons but Adam was listed at 7 foot and 230 pounds which is roughly equivalent to what Giorgios is and Woodbury put up almost five points and five rebounds in 2013. I think we can get solid minutes from him even as a true freshman. At least until McKay comes back. I agree that I bet he's not here for 4 years.
And this guy can actually dunk consistently, unlike Woodbury.

So you think he's going to pass up pro opportunities and move halfway across the world just so he can redshirt? Logical.

Redshirt? For what it's worth - I have several friends who played D1 ball and one who, I found out today, is related to Giorgos. He said that he wouldn't be surprised if Giorgos is a one and done.

Right, because relatives are always fair and objective judges of talent.

But, to be fair, the alternative is a bunch of guys on the interwebs watching youtube videos, so there's that....

The Woodbury comparisons are just lazy. Stop it.

Disagree with your post completely. No one is calling him a European Woodbury. Their games look completely different to me. The *only* thing I'm saying that is similar are their builds, which is a 100% true statement.

Edit: Let me expound on this a bit more. The reason why I listed Woodybury's stats was to make a point to Bryce that tall, thinly built centers can easily make a decent contribution as a true freshman at the D1 level. To assume Giorgos and Woodbury are the same or that they would be used in a similar manner is laughable.

Is that the alternative?
BTW, according to the Blum the offer was made after watching those videos, so apparently the info available is limited. It is a roll the dice, but one that could have a huge upside, without really a downside. We are not in on anymore surefire redshirts like Anderson, so we might as well give this thing a try. If we get lucky he is ready to fill in for McKay and give us some minutes, and then play the stretch 5 role.

Stop it! You're getting me excited.

Loved the scouting video report #2, a lot better quality as well. This kid looks like a beast. If he took a year to redshirt or stay until his senior year....damn so much damage he can cause.

Do we have too much depth now though guys? I really want to see some of these new guys/less experienced guys play like BDJ, SDW, McKay, Custer, Tsalmpouris, and Nader, along with Long, Niang, Thomas, Morris, and Hogue.
Love the potential of this team. Every single player is a threat to other teams.

Hopefully Fred finds a system where we utilize each player to the best of their ability to create mismatches and we see a sensible and healthy rotation of players off the bench. Would like to see more than the same 5 players play all year, just don't wanna see that crash and burn ala McCaffery style
