New coach, new image

The tornado logo would look very retro in today's world. It would look old and kind of like a USFL game from 30 years ago

I wholeheartedly disagree.[/QUOTE]

THIS, however, kicks a little ***. The updated color on the lid.....think my mind may be changed here!

Blow up toilet Cy for good

Yea, that's more what I was thinking. Probably keep the old logo text off and just have the block tornado. People complain about that logo being associated with Walden, but I think that would be subtle enough to just be a cool uniform detail without really "bringing back" the old logo.

Yeah, I agree - need to leave the text off and maybe put the uniform number there instead.

I guess I don't hesitate with the cyclone logo because of the Walden era, just like I am not for the blue we had when Seneca/Sage were taking us to never before seen heights. I never liked that blue, and the tornado chicken I always thought was strange. I would rather just have CY.

Looking around the internet it is very difficult to find a decent tornado or cyclone graphic. Honestly, that old logo is the best one around. Not a design guy, but it must be difficult.

We need uniforms like Oklahoma State

Couple combos to choose from, with a dark gray or black option, and an alternate helmet with a retro logo where we could use the old tornado.

Did anyone else see this?
Ben Bruns @benbruns

I look forward knowing Matt Campbell; this will take a little time, particularly for those guys in the locker room. Yesterday was hard.

I really hope folks in the department and around cyclone athletics in whatever capacity can be fair to him. With Chizik leaving, EVERYONE was ******...Hoiberg was a leaving on own terms....but stuff like this above seems to only make it weird for players, etc.

Campbell seems like a very humble guy. The players love Ayeni, and if he is any indication of the type of character that Campbell conveys I think the transition will go OK. Divorces are hard, and having Rhoads' boys on the team will force this to be handled delicately, but it's all part of turning a huge group of boys into young adults. Professionalism will win the day (and hopefully some games).

Agree 100%...and was thankful that Cambell acknowledged Rhoads.

I can sense Cambell is high character and can navigate this process...and will lead with caring. And this is a prime time for players to be leaders as they are the ones that see/hear the behind the scenes stuff.

Yeah, I hear ya, maybe something like this? (sorry, just bored and messing around with photoshop tonight)

There's the idea.

Here is a previous pic of the swirl in the background on an away jersey.

Move lived in Big East/ACC territory, Pac12 territory, and SEC territory and you're simply wrong. Everybody who sees the I-State knows who it is. I'm Executive Platinum on American Airlines and I get comments about Iowa State on at least every other trip from my I-State jackets, ties, cuff links, bag tag, or whatever I might have with me at the time. I doubt that 19 out of 20 people even know that there's an Illinois State.

LOL I'm not "simply wrong" because your experience is different than mine.

If the people don't recognize the logo, it's either because:

a) they don't know jack about college sports (most people in metro areas only follow pro sports)
b) ISU hasn't had enough success to get the branding out there to be known

Usually it's both. Neither suggests changing the I-State logo is a good thing. It would only make things more confusing.

I could care less if we change the logo, I'd prefer the old school cyclone, but I get the reason behind I-State. Simply providing input on my experiences from living in ACC, SEC, Big East, Pac 12, Big Ten and Big 12 regions. And yes, I've lived in them all since graduating.

I like this look

I've lived in every corner of this country and our branding is not working. When I wear my I-State gear the most common thing I get is "oh you went to Illinois State? " and when I lived on the west coast "oh you went to Idaho state? "

And these are people that know sports. The reality is when you're out of big 12 country our logo isn't a national brand because Iowa isn't nationally recognized "I" doesn't cut it.

To me, that there is the most apparent logic that our I-State branding effort is a failure. I could personally go either way on the logo, this isn't my personal opinion. It's fact that people have no idea what it is.

Where were you when multiple people confused your shirt for Illinois St? Seems like Ducktales...

These are pretty good

Ronald McDonald No.
49er look Yes.
Big "AAB" sticker on the helmet. "Americans Against Bullying".
Will Smith is going to win an Oscar for telling us all that butting heads with helmets on is not optimal. Who knew???? All this uniform/helmet talk will be for not when American Football is banned....
