Nebraska vs. ISU

14-10 ISU wins..

Your offense may be better, but you guys were really bad last year.

I'll be tickled if we put 14 on the board against Nebraska's defense, however I think part of the reason Crick was so good last year was because of Suh.

ISU offense wasn't bad last year for the first year of a new system. I think it will improve this year and hopefully our quarterback will be healthy.

Kinda curious if you think Nebraska truley deserves the Top 10 preseason rating it's been getting?
And a QB with a broken hand and RB with a strained groin, both of which were nagging injuries for around 7-8 games.

As I always say too, a typical November game favors ISU as the winds can play tricks on players that aren't used to it.

Crick's very good.

And we were without our top three offensive players last year during the game if you include Reynolds.

And it's still going to take a hell of an effort to beat Nebraska this fall.

Sorry about that, Ill edit it. As for why I think Neb will win it comes down to defense, and an (maybe unjustified) assumption that our O will be improved. It's true last season our O was abysmal, but it was an exception, not the rule. That was the worst O the huskers have had in many years. I think our D with Crick (Preseason All-American) and Amukamara (All conference, potential first round pick) will be able to keep ISU to 14 points. If they can do that it's likely our O with a deep and healthy O-line, and a very good running back tandem in Helu Jr. and Burkhead should be able to put up enough points to win the game.

Coached by Barney Cotton... that helps us as well

Every time you say something outlandish I think you can't possibly outdo yourself, but yet you somehow do...

Let's go over this step by step:

1) Zac Lee - 14 TDs 10 INTs, 126 qb rating. Austen Arnaud - 14 TDs 13 INTs, 120 qb rating... Yes i think Arnaud is better, but you can't be high on Arnaud and this low on Zac Lee if you look at the numbers.

2) Suh.. great player. but to doom NU's D because he's gone is pretty short sighted, and Jared Crick will have a big say in replacing him.

3) 3-4 losses heading into the game? Care to tell me which ones they will lose? (Western Kentucky, Idaho, Washington, South Dakota State, K State, Texas, OK. State, Mizzou) The only ones I can pick out at Texas and maybe Washington because it's in Seattle.

I think Iowa State will hold its own in the game, but ultimately lose by a touchdown.
If you can think of a worse QB last year in the Big 12, please let me know, and no Baylor does not count.

In no way was my post troll like, and to those of you who think it was your just a little insecure. As far as injuries go we gave a vast majority of our carries to our third string running back, and our QB was injured. Even with that being the case and 8 turnovers our offense gained 123 yards more than yours. Our 3rd string running back averaged 5 yards a carry. Even if our D isnt as good as last year (Even though Pelini and Suh both said it will be) we will still be in the top 15, and that's good enough to hold ISU's O to 14 points.

Meh, it sort of was. You went through a thread, took the opinion, embellished it a little and started a new thread reputing that opinion. A little trollish. Not full blown, just a little. First, you gave those carries to him primarily because your first two couldn't hold on to the ball. They were not injured. Oh, Lee was injured huh? Don't buy it. He was playing, no excuses. Yards don't matter. Not one bit. I will bet you the over on 7 points then because that is in the middle of your range. Out offense will likely be much better and by that time our defense could be as good. I think we are much more physically talented than we were last year. Also, Nebraska is a team that our lack of a pass rush may not kill us. One thing is for sure, Jack Trice will be electric that day. I really hope i make it there.

Not troll like at all. As long as you aren't being derogatory towards our team a productive debate is welcomed, at least by me.

as far as this year goes, we won't see 8 TOs again, and with both defenses weakened from last year. both teams have potent rushing attacks to use. I imagine both defenses will try to shut down the running game (harder task for ISU due to the graduation of the entire LB corps), and have the other QB beat them. Both our teams have QBs that can give the game away, so smart QB play will be essential.

We also haven't touched on the fact one of our Olineman was out for much of the game and at least three other Olineman were sicker than hell with a lot of the rest of our players.

Many of the breaks they received in last years game?

What, like losing their Starting QB AND Starting RB for the game? Having two freshman making their first starts at those positions?

I still don't understand how turnovers are luck. When I played, I didn't remember feeling unlucky when I fumbled the ball or threw a pick. I accredited it to poor performance on my part-- and anyone elses-- 100% of the time.

The whole "right place at the right time" stuff is hardly luck. Its called preperation. Like watching film to know the quarterbacks tendancies... or working on ball handling drills for the backs.

If your team was so good- don't turn the damn ball over.

To those ISU fans who think our D is going to drop off alot next year, you obviously do not know anything about Pelini's track record. As DC at LSU his defenses ranked were ranked 3rd in the nation every year he was there, and he won a NC. Since coming to Nebraska He took our D from one of the worst in the nation, to #1 in scoring defense. Nebraska will always have a great D as long as Pelini is the coach.

Whatever. We can match your boys injury for injury that day, illness for illness, and we won in your house.

Not only does UNIGuy4Cy makes us look like a bunch of morons, but he makes UNI looks like a bunch of morons too.
And arent you the same guy that says we just "pick up the scraps in recuiting?" Sorry, but you are wrong again. And that was a great post from Cyclone fan BTW.

Amen. One was pretty lucky, but 8 is more of a trend than a bout with good fortune. Huskers failed. Time for them to get over it.
Or wallow in it. I guess I'm happy with the win either way.

Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Don't ever forget that.

I don't think anyone has said it will be a big drop off. A DT/NG can single handedly do more damage than any other player on the field. Pressure is one thing, pressure up the middle is another. You won't have as good of a player there as you did last year. Your secondary seemed good but that could be inflated by the fact that Suh created chaos and opportunities for them.
