College football is about tradition. Both of these schools have strong, vibrant histories going back to the beginning of the movement west.

During that time NDSU has established itself as a proud athletic program, on top of its own competition and able to compete with the larger universities like Iowa State.

The BISON are famous for the upset including University of Montana, University of California Davis, Cal-Poly, Minnesota, Ball State and Central Michigan. NDSU is considered one of the top programs in the FCS. UNI is in our conference.

Im not familiar with the Iowa State University traditions in football. I just know what I see, a push over in The Big 12. A 2-10 team. Still, Big 12, Major university, lots more scholarships, bigger program.

What are the ISU traditions that help you prevail when the chips are down and Jack Trice is trembling?

We have tradition to, and those no offense are pathetic upsets i wouldnt brag about those

you beat the gophers when they went like 1-11 correct? who would brag about that

All I remember about NDSU is playing the University of Nebraska at Omaha Mavericks on a regular basis. And not very long ago, either.

the pathetic bison dont stand a chance youll be lucky if you lose by less then 3 touchdowns when are scrubs are in its guna be a long drive home NDSU

LOL at "UNI is in our conference". NDSU, is in UNI's conference. UNI has 14 conference titles since 1985, and NDSU went 6-5 in its ONE and only year in the conference.

I am so sick of you Bison fans. You guys have no chance. Please give it up. You guys are so pathetic thinking you will win.

Come gameday... Welcome to Iowa. Have a fun time tailgating and drinking. Watch ISU kill you. Then get the heck out of our state safely.

Excellent post on tradition. I did count the bowl wins and its like 1-5, big games, lots of them really really close. Exciting games. Its a great tradition.

Here is the NDSU Media Guide link for BISON tradition:

Im not sure what the Gophers were besides a Big 10 program. That was good enough for me. In fact thats the point I have been making. This might be an even game. The Cyclones were 2-10 last year weren't they? You played UNI last year too I think.

Source?

I've never really heard of anyone considering NDSU as a "top program in the FCS". To me, these programs are predominantly the East Coast schools (Richmond, Appy St. Maine, New Hampshire, James Madison) and of course UNI. NDSU is what I would consider a mediocre at best program at the FCS level. I might even go as far as saying they could be a "pot-stirrer" of sorts.

You have nothing to brag about, end of story.

I'm sensing a bit of Jimlad needed here? Bold and arrogant statements coming from a team with such RICH TRADITION. Cant wait to watch the bison (notice not in caps?) get herded up and shooed out of Ames.
