NCAA BASKETBALL CORRUPTION SCHEME

Football isn't clean by any means but it's nowhere near BB. For one, one player doesn't neccesarily make it tick. For another, those 7 teams you mention can pay huge dividends for a guys future which isn't true for basketball. Markell Fultz and Ben Simmons are examples. Both were great on **** teams and they did very well for themselves. The other thing is there isn't a lot of incentive for Saban or Harbaugh or Meyer to go out and pay one guy. That one guy likely isn't going to move the needle. Without Bo Scarborough, Alabama is still great. Without Jabrill Peppers, Michigans defense was going to be great. The return isn't there. The other, biggest thing, is that you don't have an AAU system that is at the center of all of this ****. It's high school coaches that, in most cases, are well meaning people rather than horse brokers. Michigan has 11 guys from last years defense in the NFL. Alabama has done that for years. That's plenty of reason for a high level recruit to go there.

Sure, there's some car stuff and there's some money under the table but when you compare Jim Tressel and what happened at OSU to Rick Pitino and what happened at Louisville, it ridiculous that one is still coaching and the other got a show-cause. Absolutely stupid.

I would bet the FB help is more when they are at the school than in the recruiting. They may promise some stuff, but I'd venture to guess basketball is more prior to commitment.

NCAA fully aware that this was coming given how they have been making a few, minor changes to the hiring process of player coaches and family members at whatever school they are going to attend. This is not a surprise to them...

The 7 on 7 leagues and the burgeoning camp market are the AAU of football.

Agreed that one player doesn't make a team like in bball and there is a lot more development required in football. But, football has and generates more money at the university level and a QB can change a trajectory. Cam Newton and Reggie Bush cost more than these bball players. Ole Miss was paying in the 10 to 20k range.
The 5 star money gets funnelled theough private football factories prior to which is less up front than the aau/shoe deal market.
It is all corrupt at some small level for both sports. The issue for me is when it is exposed that players are essentially auctioned off. I am happy the feds have stepped in.

Wishful thinking. Good school, excellent coach, top level facilities, packed gym for every game and massive name recognition - Kansas doesn't need to be dirty to recruit at a high level.
So it's just a coincidence Joel Embiid, Kelly Oubre, Andrew Wiggins, Ben McLemore and Tyshawn Taylor went to Kansas and they're on adidas payroll now?

they have tapes:

What I'm most curious watching is the NCAAs response: are they complicit, or do they take extreme steps to get in front of this.

In other words, do they get info from the US Atty on who is involved and ban them - or do they take the "everything proceeds as normal until the trails are complete" tactic

Neither does L'Ville. Neither does Kentucky. I see what you're saying, but I don't think the fact that they don't need to be dirty means they're not dirty.
