i don't think JT had a number. The Yankees were the team that get credited with putting numbers on their uniforms first. They used numbers to indicate batting order and help fans know which players were batting. JT passed away in 1923 which i think was a bit too early before numbers started to catch on around the nation. No one in my book has earned that right, It used to be Jack Trice Field at Cyclone Stadium. Then we finally got it right and named the Stadium after JT. There is no one in the football program in my book that has earned that honor in my book. We leave it as it is JTS and not mess with it. Frankly, I think even suggesting it is premature at best. Maybe we should be pushing to get Jack Trice's number retired instead.

Anything other than Wayne Bolt Field at Jack Trice Stadium in the Marty Fine football complex at Donnie Jennert University is a travesty.

The game, played on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 26), makes the two schools among the first nationally to don numerals for fan and media identification. Results are flown back to Ames by carrier pigeon. Earle Bruce led us to the best seasons. Get your ### straight.Johnny Majors has a practice field named after him. As you said, Campbell has only been here for 2 years. So, I would go with McCarney because he took Iowa State to it's greatest season and brought back excitement to Cyclone football.
We could open an eating establishment and name Jim Criner diner.I tailgate near the ‘historic Jim Walden row of kaybos’ in B4.
