Nader arrested for OWI?

Now that is just dumb. You can get arrested for murder and then the charges are dropped because they find they have the wrong ricochet - you should be suspended for that? I get that if you did something and you get off on a technicality that shouldn't preclude some sort of AD discipline - however not every arrest is because the person legitimately did something wrong.

There could certainly be exceptions and I didn't mean to come across as a zero tolerance policy because I hate those. I just don't think it is all that hard to get through college without being arrested and a suspension isn't exactly a cruel and unusual punishment. Oh, and I hereby volunteer to be suspended from work, without pay, for 2 weeks if I am ever arrested on any charge - whether I did it or not.

Alright, as a pretend officer of the law, I arrest you for not being drunk enough. It's a charge, I fully expect you to go 2 weeks without pay.

The thing is there really is no reason I guess to plead guilty and hope for a lesser charge because if I understand correctly there is no plea down if you plea guilty for OWI. It's an OWI no matter what. So might as well plea not guilty and hope they screwed up some procedure. Know what I mean?

Also an OWI in story county is an automatic 2 days served in jail. One of the few counties w/o a first strike warning. He will have to serve 2 days in jail and take a class.

I also know people that have received an OWI in Story County and did not serve any jail time. Most recently as this past fall (driving home from tailgating).

There is a lessor plea as well....wreckless driving and I believe even potentially impaired driving.

Wreckless driving should certainly be everyone's goal... ;)

I got an OWI once. Got it expunged from my record and did no jail time. I also represented myself in court to save a little money.

@TravisHines21: No update on potential punishment/suspension for Abdel Nader, who was charged with OWI last month, Fred Hoiberg says.

Right.......

True story. They kept telling me I should hire one but I didn't see the reason to. I would have done the public defender but they told me I made too much money to hire one of those. Only jail time I did was the hour or two when I was arrested and went through all the motions of that.

I keep hearing from some posters how easy it is to get out of the ramifications of a DUI/OWI/DWI arrest. This woman would beg to differ:

Frankly, what *** of a county attorney chose to prosecute this one I'll never know.

And Vikings fans, yes, this is that Alan Page.

Depends on who you are and where you are.. Or how much you blew over. Some people are more lenient than others.
