Moving to Denver

Just found out there is a good chance of ending up in Denver soon.

Does anybody live there or has anyone lived there that has any advice for areas to look at?

My wife and I are looking for apartments that are fairly cheap but in a young neighborhood with lots of walkable restaurants and such. Downtown is a little expensive but it seems like Highland and LoDo are are nice ares with decent apartment rates. We are open to any neighborhoods but would prefer a more central location. My wife will be out at the hospital in Aurora.

Just curious if anyone has any advice. Thanks!

Stay away from Five Points / East Colfax in Aurora/Denver line

Seems like a large % of grads from the state of Iowa go to Chicago or Denver.

I was thinking the Rockies would be a lot rockier than this.

Yeah that John Denver was full of ****.

I've been in Denver for a year now. Great town. Love it more than West Des Moines. I currently live in Highlands Ranch which is a great community. I'm moving next week though to Denver just to get closer to downtown and to find a youner crowd. There's a great Iowa State bar too off Blake but I forget the name. Haven't been there since march madness.

Downtown Denver is great as far as things to do. Quick access to the mountains(just not on Saturdays/Sundays between January-March)LoDo and Highland neighborhoods have some great food/drink spots(Go to the highland tap and burger NOT the one on diner's drive in's and dives. The former is better, imo.), easy access to whatever pro sport you want to watch.

I can't comment on living there as I only ever visit, but I've heard traffic is a pain, but probably not much worse than any other fast growing metro area. Based on housing prices in Boulder county, you might be in for some sticker shock in Denver if you're looking to pay Iowa prices, but the jobs generally pay better as well.

What's wrong with East Colfax? I don't live there, just curious.

nothing if you like pay by the hour hotels, crack and meth. You remember the old Chappelle stand up?
