Montgomery leads nation

When you have a guy with this ability, toughness and is a leader pushing guys to go to the facility to put in extra work on their own time, you've got a special, culture changing player.
He is so good in the passing game both picking up blitzes, catching the ball. Dude might already be my favorite Cyclone of all time, as much for the off the field leadership as anything.

I think this oline will be good next year. Quite young but has good size

I would love to see yards after contact. Truly amazing what he does.

Saw elsewhere today that 65 percent of David's yards come after contact; let's see, he has 936 yards on the ground, so that's 608 yards after contact.

Also, his 88 forced missed tackles is 25 ahead of the runner-up.

Sensational player. Thank the football gods he's a humble guy rather than an unlikeable player with an unrestrained ego. Love this kid. Great player, great teammate, outstanding Cyclone.

Thing I love about Montgomery is, he doesn't celebrate or flaunt after he scores or has a big run.

I was thinking yesterday he always looks like he's at practice doing his 100th rep between plays, just kind of a calm focused look all the time. Then the whistle blows and he's playing like he's on fire.

Real workman like attitude, I just hope we have him healthy for two more years. He's a guy you build an offense around.

He showed alot of patience and I think yesterday was his best overall performance this season.and to Pyle onto Tubervilles crap performance did I hear him say his 22yrd touchdown was the longest of the season?

What is even more amazing is that he fights through all of that contact, continues to drive forward with one hand on the ground and yet never puts the ball on the ground. Often backs will turn the ball over when they are trying to do everything to eek out that last yard out of a run.

My dream for next year....come off a 9-4 year with a bowl win, lots of starters back and lets be honest..... David Montgomery at least has one more year as a Cyclone.

Still, I dont understand why 90 % of his touches occur within 2 yds of him encountering his first missed tackle. Why can't we get him space quicker with pitches, passes?

I hope he has a monster game against Baylor.

My opinion is Troy Davis still remains the best running back ISU has ever had, so would you all rank Montgomery #2 at this point? I wouldn't have any problem with that and wouldn't argue that point with anyone.

But just think of all the good running backs ISU has had over the years and how Montgomery stacks up to them. Three come to my mind immediately: Blaise Bryant, Darren Davis, Ennis Haywood (rest his soul). Darren Davis was probably the best blocking back ISU has ever had besides Troy.

I would put Montgomery right there with the best right now based on this season and his career so far at ISU.

Hard to top what Davis did but Montgomery is only a sophomore and he plays on a way better team.
