I'm jealous your son is so into this. My 7 year old has no interest in watching sports at all. Although he does ask now if the Cyclones win or lose.

All kids are different. I took my son to all kinds of sporting events as soon as he could walk. He liked going but never really fell in love with sports. Even though he is 6'3" 225 lb starting varsity football player, he rarely has any interest in watching games or following sports closely. He knows if the Cyclones win or lose, but that is about it. He is more into computer games, netflix, science, and girls .....

My 14 year old daughter on the other hand loves sports. She will watch all kinds of games with me and she will even watch games on her own. Sports come really easy to her. She plays aau basketball at a high level and she loves to practice so she can get better.

Not how I expect things to be before I had kids, but both are great.

Much of my schooling came in the days before title IX, and there were extremely limited options for sports for girls where I lived. Couple that with the fact that my 3 year highschool had 1500 kids, and net result is you had to be VERY good at the available sports to be a female athlete. No girls' basketball, volleyball, track, cross-country, softball, swimming...nothing except gymnastics or tennis. I know it makes some of you mad because a few of the men's sports are no longer supported, but I'm very glad girls have so many more options now...even more so now that I have 15 granddaughters!

I didn't really follow sports at all until I had sons. They corrupted me. :) Still don't give a rat's arse about pro sports, but I do love to follow the NCAA FB & BB programs.

So the little guy had an early out day today at school. He's outside shooting hoops but I made him come in quick and look at the Nae Nae and the Dougie and he said nope to both of them. He showed me his version again and I am still clueless. Oh well I guess. Thanks for all the help everyone.

LMFAO....middle aged men talking hip-hop dance crazes...and I can say that as I is one...

Way to brainwash your kid Farmincy, you're doing the right thing! I love this story because the same thing happened to me. I didn't attend ISU, only set straight as a child.

The only way to solve this is record your kid's dance and post it!!

Shoot a tweet out to Monte, knowing that a 7 year old is looking up to him I'm sure he'll try and help out.

So here is an update for all that helped with this today.

He has decided that he knows how to do Monte's dance. He said he is going to practice what's in his head and show it to Monte at ISU bball camp.

The way I see it Monte is either going to think its funny and like it. Or the players are going to think he has lice and kick him out of camp!!!!!

It's a blessing and a curse. He has an Ipad that he does some school work on but it also for fun. He has links to all the schedules and you tube channels for ISU. He knows when there are games and makes sure we are going. So it's tough to hide a game if we know we can't make it.

He is obsessed with all things basketball, he can't get enough of it. We have never pushed him to anything but he just keeps wanting to do more. He also follows Kevin Durant alot and for Christmas I took him to the Twin Cities when the Thunder played the TWolves. Because of his bball obsession it's pretty easy to keep him occupied though. He likes to watch skills videos on youtube and then go outside and practice them. His big thing right now is he is working on his spin move down low and has a couple videos of Niang he looks at and tries to copy his spin moves.

Surprisingly the kid is good at bball. I know every parent says their kid is good and I hate sounding like I'm bragging but at 7 years old he's got amazing form when he shoots and he rarely misses anything inside the free throw line. Like I said we have never pushed him to anything and we are trying to slow him down with basketball but he is just obsessed with learning everything about it.

Man, that kid is obsessed, and I love it. I was sports obsessed at that age, and my kids are not quite to that level. They pretty much love whatever sport they are in at the time, but by the end of the season are ready to move to the next, which sounds crazy since my kids are K and 2nd, but there is pretty much a sport going on at all times.

My kids aren't to the point of watching Niang moves, but I did notice my youngest pop the front of his jersey after making a shot after he saw Georges do it during a game. It didn't exactly make sense since all teams jerseys have the name of the league organization, but hey, he's 5. He loves Kane and Morris, since he has basically proclaimed himself the team's PG.

After my daughter's first game she did really well but was pretty timid getting rebounds. The next time we were at a game I told her to just watch Hogue and rebound like him. Every game the rest of the season I can say with certainly she was the leading rebounder, ripped every 50-50 ball away and dove for at least 4 loose balls. Fortunately she was asleep by the time he went Bruce Lee at Morgantown.

It's amazing how different kids can end up even though you do your best to raise them the same. For my son pretty much everything sports-related comes extremely easy to him, and practicing fundamentals is boring to him. My daughter struggles with everything athletic at first, but is a ridiculous grinder. Her first day of kindergarten she couldn't even get to the second bar on the monkey bars. She came home with her hands raw and bloody every day until she could get all the way across. She'll want to play catch with a football and not stop until she catches 100 consecutive, things like that.
