MONDAY MUSINGS: It's hard to be optimistic anymore

I'm thinking you wait until Texas to bring Lanning out. The next two defenses are bad but they'll be games where the offense is in desperation mode after the first quarter. He has to have built up some confidence in how he's played, although sparingly, but I'd hate to see all of that lost while trying to keep them in a game where the other team is scoring 50+.

Wow. Enjoyed reading that. Always thought that CW had been too restrained and overly diplomatic in the past. Not so much anymore.

Like Deace always talked about, at Michigan, the only way things were going to change was empty seats and losses. Well, we have plenty of losses. Time to show JP this is unacceptable. No reason to spend any amount of money to watch us get 30+ pointed game after game, en route to another 2 or 3 win season.

Thank you, Chris. You wrote what so many of us are thinking, but you wrote it with respect for the individuals, which so many have been unable to do. Something has to change, and my support to ISU cannot be one of them. But dammmn it's getting hard.

I think we need the arm of Lanning to soften up the rush defenses now. We could become like KSU and run six plays all game. At least the bubble screen passes would get there.

Good write up, hopefully AD dept will read this. Most likely you will get blocked on twitter at a minumum.:spinny: Very thin skin up there.

For the first time in two years I agree, its time to pull the plug on Sam Richardson. The kid has taken a beating in Ames both physically and mentally. The coaches have gotten into his head so bad, he isn't even a threat to run the ball.

Very Thin Skin Ya Say............They the Athletics Dept had better grow some really thick skin because we May NOT WIN another game with our combination of a porous defense and a lousy passing attack in a Passing League....

Look on the bright side guys and gals...CPR has already won 2 more games than Jimmie Dean Walden did in 1994...Jimmie Dean Walden's ...."Farewell Tour".....the FT comment comes from our Band who said they were on the Jim Walden Farewell Tour...

btw AD Gene Smith really blew his top with that band comment and banner on the Bus ...It was the KU trip...I was in Lawrence of course for the game.....

Apathy mode for the ISU faithful. I was mad after Iowa. I've been numb since Toledo. Its hard to even care anymore with all the crap coming out of the coaching staff.

I really don't think a change at QB will make a bit of difference. Our OL play and our defense with a few exceptions are really sub par. I can understand our recruiting challenges, but OL and to a lesser extent DL and LB positions can be filled pretty well with Midwestern kids and development.
Sure many will not agree but Richardson would play pretty well in a different situation(team). If we make a change now, I think we will see even more problems at QB. In addition, even though Wally is a really like able guy, our defense is more than awful. Can not control the line of scrimmage. LBs in the wrong gaps. Poor fundamentals by the defensive backfield and poor tackling. Not sure where one would start to turn this thing around even a little bit.

How about something to be happy about? The offensive line has to be much improved. No back gains 245 yards without some quality blocking.

There was an advantage to playing the five easy games first.

1. We know what we have.
2. We are guaranteed to do as well as last year.
3. The first four games helped us for the next three.
4. We again have a qb controversy, scratch that, kicker controversy.
