They're the FBI - I'm sure they can get involved in whatever they feel warrants their attention. I believe the nearest field office is in Omaha, so I'd guess that group is fielding this. It's not like they're flying people in from Quantico.

You mean it's not Gideon (old school), Dr. Reid, Hotchner, Garcia, Morgan, Jareau, Rossi, and Prentiss?
I'd never seen that show - glad I googled those names! Most of my FBI knowledge comes from Thomas Harris novels. :wink:
I hope that they are able to find some leads. It's hard when you hope that he just ran away for a little while - I can't imagine how his family is feeling.

Check out this link. Read somewhere else there was another person missing in Minnesota or Wisconsin. Thats three people in one week all along I35. Maybe thats why FBI is involved.

This just gets creepier and creepier. I watch all those crime shows but you never really think that you're going to be living in the town where this stuff happens. Especially when it's a small town like Ames.

If a college male, similar description, goes missing in the Kansas City area, I'll officially be creeped out. All 3 locales roughly 3 hours and 180 miles apart (rounded average).
Today they were scooping up all the big piles of snow between Kildee and Lago. I don't know if it has anything to do with the search, but that is the first thing I thought of when I walked by.
midwest smiley face killers... google them... its some creepy **** they do. I hope its not them, but some of these coincidences and what not can't go unnoticed forever.
I've heard of them, real creepy. I don't know if i believe it though, a little too far fetched.
I googled all three.. different races, different ages, and different backgrounsd. Jon being the only college student. Plus you would think with the pattern we would have heard of another one south of Ames some place since then. Plus the circumstances are different. The Eric Peterson one is way different because someone left his car at an "aquaport". The other kid was reportedly kicked out of a bar early for his level of intoxication and dogs were able to track him around to a few places but all ended up with dead ends. They seem pretty different circumstances to me. The first kid also seemed to be involved in a more sketchy lifestyle. I'm assuming Jon's car wasn't mysteriously moved or anything. We haven't heard much about that kind of stuff.
People thought Gary Ridgway was far fetched too. No way one guy could've done all that. :dull:
