Michigan State vs. Iowa

You serious?

Michigan State is elite...when their QB can throw further than 10 yards downfield. Beating one ranked team and reaching the Rose Bowl sounds impossible, so you should definitely enjoy it while you can.

Oh man, I'm enjoying it. Injuries are apart of the game. We lost our best back in the first quarter.

That's one game out of the year.. And you're right that it does fuel 'Super Bowl' comments because ISU routinely loses to awful competition regardless of the outcome of the Iowa game, while Iowa has gone on to play in the Orange Bowl following an ISU loss.

This is a myth that is disproven dozens of times everytime the game comes around. This is trolling of the lowest quality.

Agreed. He's not very good at it. He doesn't even know what players are on his team. He probably wanted Kirk fired at the start of the year.

I wouldn't call it trolling. It's a debate as to whether Kirk Ferentz qualifies as being a golden boy. If Hoiberg does, Ferentz unequivocally does. And Ferentz even stayed when the League came knocking

I would classify Stanford as a great team and I can't remember the last time Iowa beat a great team. Wouldn't hold your breath

It has been awhile. Let's please not forget that a team that Iowa blew out on the road (at a game that I attended) beat Stanford on the same field.

One thing you said was fact, the rest of it is a pretty transparent myth perpetrated by the lowest IQ members of your fanbase.

So you're saying that ISU doesn't routinely lose to awful competition after playing well against Iowa.. I guess we'll agree to disagree.

your wrong and it's not a matter of opinion. Again, this is detailed out constantly around the football game. Takes some real blinders to actually believe it.

Yeah you must be new here but every year when it's ISU/Iowa football week the stats get thrown out and this is wrong

What I said was fact.

Here are more facts:

*Ferentz did a good job this year despite a sizable chunk of the Iowa fanbase wanting him fired (LOL)

*Given their relative levels of overall success since 1999, Iowa State has dominated Ferentz over the course of his tenure

*Iowa has trailed off to losing seasons within a few years of their last two BCS bowls under Ferentz, so you should once again prepare for this success to not be sustained and for Iowa to drop to 7-5 (since I can't see Iowa ever having an actual losing season in this Pop Warner football league that is the B1G West) within the next three or four seasons

I do hope you enjoy the Rose Bowl, every fan should. I really don't care about Iowa being in an exhibition game so I am happy for my friends who are going since they seem to be happy. Should help them get over their team losing its biggest game in history.

Great, all-time historic job

Dominated is incorrect. In fact, most of their victories have been one-possession games while most of Iowa's have been 2 or more in that timeframe

True I guess, hopefully Kirk will learn from that history. Also, the Big 10 is the best conference in football this year and that will remain the case as long as all of these amazing coaches are in the conference. The SEC is finally decaying.

Thank you!!! It will be an awesome time. We're going to take the scenic drive and then stop in Vegas on the way out there for a night. Legendary. Exhibition game though? You're talking about the Grandaddy of em all, show some respect.

I don't know this answer, but how many times has Iowa been favored to win in this series? I wouldn't be surprised if its 15 out Ferentz's 17 games, or even higher. But he has lost nine of them.

Edit: Iowa has been favored in the last 15 Cy-Hawk games based on an old tweet I saw from Brent Blum, so there you have it. All of those coached by Ferentz vs. either Danny Mac, Chiz, or CPR.

SEC East is a mirror image of the B1G West. So glad that the "B1G is best" narrative will get a nice test in bowl season. Iowa vs. Stanford, Ohio State vs. Notre Dame, and Michigan State vs. Alabama. The B1G has to win at least two of those to make an argument for best conference this year I think. Even then it would be top-heavy with absolute garbage at the bottom, but then again no one seems to care about that when they compare conferences for whatever reason.

Sounds like fun. Seriously, enjoy it. But all bowls are exhibition games other than the playoff. They are meaningless to who the champion of the sport is. It didn't make me enjoy trips to New York or Memphis any less though. But it meant nothing in the big picture of the sport

B1G West is much better than the SEC East, at least at the top. Anyways thanks but I can't believe you just compared the exhibition-ness of the Pinstripe Bowl to the Rose Bowl. Those are so far from being similar in terms of the national landscape of college football. No, the Rose doesn't impact the national championship but my football team effectively made the Elite 8 and has the potential to finish top-5 in the country

Not really. 8 out of 128 teams is not the same as 8 out of 347 teams
