Michigan State vs. Iowa

Is it anger?m is it butt hurt? These Iowa fans on an ISU site are focused.

Think Prohm is a better coach than Hoiberg? I was simply comparing the 'Golden Boys' of each school in this generation to one another. Shame for you guys that yours wasn't interested in staying with the most talented roster in team history

I don't know.

If Kirk Ferentz is Iowa's Golden Boy that is the greatest thing I've ever heard.

ISU played some great teams and won a lot of big games last year. Iowa had a pathetic schedule and then lost their only big game. That's an awful comparison

It's cool. He probably doesnt realize ISU has 18 wins over ranked teams the past two seasons, the most in the country. But that's none of my business. Carry on.

Golden Boy at Iowa? Is that what you call a coach the fans wanted fired all of 2015 until September?

And now look at us, we've been proven to be idiots. Hoiberg would surely face that kind of criticism if he would have stayed 15+ years. Freddie's high school recruiting was suspect and I remember some of my ISU friends often complaining about that

Maybe, but my school's history in that sport runs a lap around yours as well. Hoiberg, as an amazing coach, still never finished Top-10 after the NCAA tourney was all said and done. Ferentz will have done it with his football teams five times after this season.
There isn't an AP poll(the real rankings) after the tourney...

Of this generation? How isn't he, lol? Hall of Famer. 4X Coach of the Year in the Big 10. I will tear you apart in that argument.

Sports Illustrated 5 worst coaches in college football. Consistently viewed as having the worst contract in the country. Most of his own fan base wanted him fired before this season plus multiple other seasons. Can't even figure out who the best QB is on his own team.

If that is Iowa's "Golden Boy" I'm happy I'm not a Hawk fan. That's sad.

That run was tough to witness, no doubt. Number 49 (guy who whiffed the tackle while running in) is an idiot
It looked like maybe he was going for the ball trying to knock it out of Scott's hand, but Scott lifted it up at the last second to reach it over the goal line. Or maybe I'm giving 49 too much credit.

Amazing what a weak schedule in one-half of the B1G can do

Haha I'd say you probably are. If he would've simply torpedoed into the guy's chest, he'd have forced a 4th down

Yep Iowa State finished the year ranked #9.

Do you realize that that poll has the national champion at no. 18, and not care because the link settles the debate in your mind? Why would you give credence to a poll that takes place before the national tournament? Anyways, it's not like top 11 is bad, it's really good, I'm just saying that even Hoiberg's most success doesn't touch Ferentz's. I think it probably would have after this year, though

number of division 1 teams in FB vs BB? Being 11th sure is better than you think it is.

He has had down seasons, no doubt. You should know all about those. The point is that he has, five different times, led the Hawkeyes to Top-10 seasons. If that alone doesn't qualify as being a golden boy of a generation, then I'm sorry that I gave that label to Hoiberg as he certainly doesn't fit the mold. Ferentz is likely to surpass Hayden Fry's B1G coaching wins mark in the same amount of time, and we all know that Hayden was the Golden Boy. Add a Rose Bowl victory to Kirk's resume and what you'll have is a lost argument.
