Michigan State vs. Iowa

Could the collective playcalling be any more vanilla in this game? 90% of all playcalls were in front of the defenders. Minimal shots downfield, and when Iowa did go deep they got an 85 yard touchdown and a 15 yard pass interference call. 100 yards directly attributed to aggressive playcalls. Call me crazy, but trying to stretch the defense is not a new concept and clearly puts the pressure on the defense. My buddy was pulling for Iowa and even he couldn't believe the blah schemes coming from both sidelines. Gonna have to open things up when playing teams from modern conferences.

Iowa should be pumped to lose that game. Instead of going to the playoff and getting destroyed by Alabama, they get to go to the rose bowl to play 1920 style football against Stanford.

Tough loss last night but what a great game. Thirty seconds away from winning the title in the toughest conference in the country and a spot in the college football playoff. Amazing season, very proud.

I wonder what Iowa State's odds of almost winning the Big 12 regular season basketball title would be if we took the Kansas, Oklahoma and Baylor games off the shedule. We might even go something like, I don't know, 12-0 in that scenario.

Did you watch the game? He was amazing. A couple time he should have been down behind the LOS but managed to get 2-4 yards.

He ran pretty hard. I'm surprised Michigan St threw it as much as they did with Cook's throwing arm being so beat up.

STFU and go away. I wanted Iowa to lose because I do not like hok fans. You played an easy schedule in a weak conference. Get over yourself. Posting here is pathetic.

No no go hoks, no let's be friends. You got beat by an average team that had a qb that had a hurt arm. I hope you end up blaming Houston and don't get picked for the rose bowl.

Haha! I am a Cyclone fan. I like the hawks ok and generally want them to do well. But that doesnt make me a fan of them. At least in my book. I grew up cheering for the Cyclones in the most depressing era of of Criner and Walden and I live in Iowa city and I still cheer for the Cyclones. Nothing will sway my loyalty from my Cyclones. I just find it hard to resist the temptation of messing with you fools who take this game too seriously.

What I like best is people think Iowa flipped the switch & did things so much differently & that led to this resurgence. There D improved, but a lot had to do with playing teams that severely lacked offensive weapons. Their O was marginally better due to Beathard's legs & him making a few more throws on the season than Rudock did last year. Sure, a couple faked kick attempts here & a couple go for it on fourth downs there & the lemmings cry out how many great changes happened. Last nights game looked like 99% of Iowa games since Ferments got there.

Its crazy to think people were so brain washed they thought the Hoks were a top 5 team. That schedule was a joke and they would have beat several times if they would have played the big boys. They won the games they were should have but these super conferences are a joke and this just proves it. By the way **** the Hoks.

Looks like they're a top 5 team.

So, one might say that last night's moral victory was the granddaddy of them all?

Just wait, there will be many Iowa fans that come out and say that they are actually glad they lost the conference championship, so they could go to the beloved rose bowl.

I understand the historic significance of the rose bowl, but now that there's a cfp, and its a year that the rose bowl is not a part of the playoffs, then it really is just another consolation.

Nobody on their right mind would rather lose the game.

However, if you told me at the beginning of the year that Iowa's consolation prize for losing the big ten title game was the rose bowl, I would have throat punched you.
