Great list..... I am happy to say I have everyone of those songs. And with the exception of maybe 2 or 3 all are on my favorite playlist on Itunes

I grew up on The Hag. I love them all but:

Daddy Frank (I wore this song out - my uncle used to play it all the time)

I think I like most of these songs because I heard my dad play them when I was young.

Thank god I didn't have kids when I was young or they'd be listening to Wu-Tang, Public Enemy, and BDP

I grew up on them as well and then 80's country music of early George Strait, Randy Travis, Dan Seals.

My kids will be growing up to Garth, Chris LeDoux, Johnny... Any good country.
 
Merle is one of my all time favorites! When one of my friends got married, during the mother son dance, they danced to Momma Tried.

You need to check out artists like Drive By Truckers, Son Volt, Hayes Carll, and Cross Canadian Ragweed. You'll like it.

"Mama Tried" is the best Haggard song. Hell, it's one of the best songs you'll hear.

Cross Canadian Ragweed is playing tonight at the Val Air.

Also please note that Pancho and Lefty, while performed by Haggard and many others, is a Townes Van Zandt song.

I also love Pancho and Lefty. Love Van Zandt's, love Willie and Hag's, love Emmylou Harris's. It's one of those great songs that 1. Many people have done great versions 2. The writer didn't do the most famous version. Other examples: Me and Bobby McGee, Mr. Bojangles, City of New Orleans
