McKay Starting Over BDJ

Lots of interesting theories. We'll find out the real reason after the game in the press conference.

Seems like everyone has taken this and run with it, McKay is being Mckay, BDJ has had some nice assist and played his usual solid floor game and Naz has hit his shots. This Fred guy may know what he's doing. This switch will get a little overblown by the fact that it debuted against Tech but you've got to love the energy and ball movement in the first half.

@TravisHines21: Fred Hoiberg said Bryce Dejean-Jones was late coming to the game today. That’s the reason for the switch.

No way BDJ should start after this game. Compare the energy McKay brings to the start compared to BDJ's 0-9 start vs KU on Monday. Maybe we don't lose at Tech if McKay at starts there and we start faster.

I don't think it's a question of McKay or BDJ but BDJ or Naz. It was only Tech but so far BDJ and Naz both look fine with their rolls, they still played about the same amount of meaningful minutes it seemed.

Well McKay should start, bottom-line. And I doubt Fred sits Naz at the start because he is our best outside threat.

Going to be a tough call. BDJ is our leading rebounder and number 2 in points per game.

Him coming off the bench with Nader and Thomas could prove beneficial. I'm intrigued to see if we roll out the same starting lineup Monday.

In a way I hope we do. One major problem we have had on the road is the other team started out hot and we ended up trying to dig ourselves back into the game the rest of the way. If McKay can block or effect some shots early then hopefully Hield and Oklahoma start out in a funk, giving us a much better chance to get things going than we have recently. I'm not trying to take a shot at BDJ, but if McKay can help slow the other team down at the start and score like he did today then it would be stupid to bench him. I would guess Hoiberg will at least think about starting McKay over Jones Monday.

If I am Freddy, I'm sitting his *** on the bench a few more games and not starting him after I just bailed his *** out just four short weeks ago. For some reason, BDJ doesn't understand zero tolerance policies after the coaches have had to put up with his crap for so long. This shouldn't be something that has to be dealt with at this point in the season when we need to be playing our best ball heading into March.

I like the McKay start on Monday and beyond. Besides Naz & Georges, I think he's the other leader on that team no matter if he's on the bench or floor. He's a complete team player and leader. That can only help help us more in February and March.

I loved this move regardless of the motivation. And both McKay and BDJ played really really well. Also if I was a 3 and saw Houge staring me down on defense I would have trouble not peeing in my shorts or crying a single tear.

This move is entirely about overcoming our slow starts. We need McKay's length on the floor at the beginning of games. I doubt the minute distribution changes a whole lot overall.

This is spot on. I've been expecting this move for a couple weeks. It ups the rebounding and defense and energy at the start. Proud of how BDJ played today.

This. He has been to three schools and gotten away with pretty much everything, and at the end of the day he is still playing D-1 basketball with nothing more than a slap on the wrist (if that).

Just because our previous transfers understood this is their last stop doesn't mean they all will.

For the love of god stfu. Are you guys serious? He was late for a game, relax. In the post game, Fred said he was benched for the same thing @ ISU too. Stop acting like this is a bigger deal than it is. You guys obviously just hate BDJ, and are looking for any reason to pounce.

Played loud music. Then was noisy when playing video games. Now shows up 10 minutes later than he was asked to.

Deserves the most brutal punishment ever handed out.
