Matt Thomas predictions

The problem is he only gets about 2 shots a game and if they don't go in he sits for whoever has the hot hand. This game he had the hot hand and Nader sat. This game his first shot bounced in and not out, so hoiberg kept him in. He doesn't get 5 shots to find a rhythm. He either starts the game in rhythm, or sits.

yep, it's not like he is consistently going 0-8 or 1-7. He's been 1-3 or 1-2. Part of me thinks that I'd tell him to go out and shoot it every chance he gets out there.

Loved how happy his teammates were for Matt. Every single guy went and high fived him and said something complimentary to him after he hit those first couple of threes. The team knows that Matt's numbers simply have not done justice to his ability

They all are tweeting about him after the game too. Pretty cool to see.

Thomas' game just has never been a good fit for the role we use him in. He's a guy who is better off of one or two dribbles and has a great mid range game. He plays in an offensive system designed not to take mid range shots, and as shown over almost two years he's struggled being a spot up shooter. Hopefully this game gets him going, our offense flows so much better when there are multiple knockdown shooters on the court. It was nice to see him play with confidence today.

Matt played great today, if we get 20 points of the trio of Thomas, BDJ and Nader, we are really tough to beat. 25 or more, like today and you're talking almost unbeatable.

This team is definitely more like the 2012-2013 team in that they aren't as reliant on key players.

The great thing is that we can still always go to Niang when things get tough. The bad thing is that we can't go to Niang or Kane/Ejim when things get tough.

If this is in fact true, do you see CFH changing some things for him? More off the dribble or mid-range shots, for example. Or is it possible that Matt's made the changes himself already and its just typically going to take some time?

I don't see any playing time for him next year unless he is the 9th or 10th guy, which I would expect him to transfer if that is the case. His field goal % and 3pt % is brutal for being a "3pt specialist". I understand Fred raves about him making 3s in practice all the time, but if it doesn't translate over to games, HE GONE! He's likely to transfer next year to Wisconsin-Whitewater.
