Matt Perrault

I just thought it was very classy for John Walters to say "I'm sorry, should we go on with the interview?" At the end of the interview I was waiting and waiting for Matt to say sorry as well, never happened.

This right here is 100% example of the type of person he is. You can tell he just doesnt get it due to his post earlier in this thread.

I'm not convinced it was an apology so much as a way to shut Matt up. It sounded like one of those apologies you make to your spouse when you don't really believe you were wrong but you just want to move on with life.

It made me laugh, when the interview with John was over, Matt started whining about how he had no agenda against Pollard. I don't listen to the show often, but it's pretty obvious that you have an axe to grind, Matt.

I also agree the the whole it's an east coast obnoxious idea. I would add it's an east coast elitist thing. If they don't agree with you, they will laugh at you and demean your opinion. Because, as you all know, they are much smarter than us.

We've got a pool and a pond...the pond would be good for you.

I have been a friend of John's for around 10 years. I would agree that he is very low key. He is very passionate about ISU athletics. I have never been a Perrault fan. I think he is good at some things, but to me he has always come off as very immature on the radio.

I didn't hear the 'argument' because I had just left my car. I would chalk this up to both of them running on adrenaline and less than usual sleep. Whether right or wrong, I know John probably did feel bad about what happened. I'm not sure if Matt has the maturity to take a look at his part, but maybe when he comes down from this a bit, he will.

When I was listening last night, Matt had just returned from the draft. It sounded like he was tweeking on Red Bull. He came in and immediately started jumping on Chris about BCG. He called him a Drunk, and a few other things. I said to myself right then, he needed to get off the air. I'm sure Matt had good intentions cutting his vacation off, and getting back, but in hind sight, he should have taken the night off, or stayed behind the scenes.

I think we all feel alike. The next step is to write and email saying you will not listen to him and follow through. They will force out a guy absolutely no fans can stand and the media is beginning to hate as well.

Not tuning in would be the #1 thing to do

Matt, what would you think if Hamilton and Colvin come back to ISU?! LOL, good luck, hey McDermotts contract only goes through 2020!

I used to listen to Mike and the Mad Dog out of NYC when I lived out east. I think Matt is trying to be the "Mad Dog" of the midwest. Mad Dog used to shout people down, walk all over callers, and generally be a pain in the butt. The big difference is that his schtick played in NYC. That kind of obnoxiousness isn't tolerated quite as well here.

I don't understand why people get upset at radio personalities. They are supposed to have strong opinions about things. That is how they get people to call in. Half the stuff Matt says is ridiculous but who cares. The thing that annoys me about him is how he talks, which i know he can't help but is hard listening to him. Especially when he does his nervous laugh after everything.

I have to admit, at least he is better than Marty.

Really? Have you witnessed Marty disrespecting John Walters like that on air? Has Pollard cut Marty off from communication?
You don't have to be a fan of Marty, but Matt P should now be officially ranked behind Terrill for no other reason that he does not have a clue how/ when to show proper respect to those that have earned that right.

Pls note: that is not the same as saying he has to agree with them.

You obviously didn't hear him talking to John Walters yesterday. This is a whole different ballgame than what you are referring to ( and what I generally agree with regarding this topic).

Perrault's skills are:

  • to talk about his age (He must mention his age at least once per broadcast. it is weird.)
  • to simultaneously drone and chuckle
  • to pick fights with journalists (Randy Peterson, John Walters) while claiming he himself is not a journalist (although he wailed for half an hour when Peterson "scooped" him.)
His weaknesses are:

  • Poorly structured assertions and unclear hyperbole
  • Insecurity - If he mentions one more "ex" girlfriend, I'm going to poke my eye out.
  • False bravado - (as opposed to bravado - Deace has that - it can be annoying, but in a much different way. Bravado is Barry Switzer laughing about wanting to "hang half a hundred" on you, and doing it. False Bravado is Dan Hawkins guaranteeing ten wins, and failing to deliver. Switzer inspired hatred, Hawkins inspires an eyerolling dismissal. Perrault does not deliver)
  • Defensiveness
I was fortunate enough to be in the car just as John was coming on yesterday. I know a little about radio: your guest should not be expected to salvage the host. Ever. And that is exactly what John, as guest, did.

Perrault could be correct 100% of the time (and he's not) and it wouldn't make a difference. It is insane that the guest and the guest host both had to make such an effort to help the _actual, permanent co-host_ salvage his own show.

Poor Ken. He's gone out of the frying pan into the fire. I'd love to hear what sort of show he could do with a professional.
