MATT ****ING THOMAS

I'd love too see Matt take 5-10 more shots per game. Another great game today.

I agree. You can see the team running more sets to get him shots but now our oppponents know he's a money shooter. You see people chasing him around now like they do with Phil Forte. Has taken Matt out late in some recent games but opens up the floor for other guys when no one helps off Matt.

It's amazing how great of a team player and what positive attitude he has after the past two years. He could have had a gripe about minutes, but instead decided to make himself better and earn that playing time.

On the other hand, players with really nothing to gripe about act like babies and let the team down with their negative attitude. Someone could learn a thing or two from Matt.

Tendinitis isn't worth griping about? :jimlad:

This post is spot on. If every player had the Naz Long/Matt Thomas/Melvin Ejim/Chris Babb/Georges Niang etc. type of attitude then ISU teams would improve as the season progressed every year. And ISU would have even more trophies in the trophy case.

There was a play where he got the ball at the top of the key from Niang as Niang screened Matt's guy. There was room to shoot but instead he hesitated and tried to drive and got called for a travel. I was screaming at the TV for MT to shoot it.

Absolutely love what Thomas is doing this year! I couldn't be more impressed with his defensive improvement - it's very apparent how hard he worked this off season.

I also love his attitude on the court too - steady all the time, he plays with passion, but doesn't let emotion get out of hand either!

I'm really happy he stuck it out through the tough times and he deserves the rewards of his hard work & perseverance!

He's the antithesis of Wes Johnson!

Another quiet, but solid performance by Matt. Kind of forgot about him, but he was our third leading scorer behind 2 guys that had career nights. 4/5 from the field and 4/5 on crucial free throws. I always feels more comfortable when he is out there on the defensive side, too.

I don't care who else is on the team, I want Thomas to continue starting next year.
He'll start next year. We'll need a steadying influence if Monte leaves, and there's no certainty Naz will fully recover.

Matt Thomas played great. In fact the whole starting lineup did great. Nader played within himself and did not force as many shots. Impressed that he let the game come to him. Niang is playing lights out right now. Now if McKay could just make a Free Throw. His shot doesn't look that bad, they just do not go in.

Seems like he does better when he makes his first one. After missing a couple, he was thinking about them.

They say the NCAA tournament is a guard's game. Morris/Thomas are playing as well as anyone.

Thought this needed a bump. Matt was huge yesterday, and probably under-appreciated.

The fact that I can say that tells me that big games out of Matt are almost expected now. Announcers and talking heads are starting to notice.

One hell of a year for that kid.

This. Matty was a rock yesterday. Composed and consistent. Hitting big shots to end runs by the other team, grabbing important rebounds and playing solid D. He's living up to his "Ice" nickname. Just a cold blooded killer out there.
