This teetering back and forth lately on the question of "Is Venom in the MCU or not??" has turned out to be borderline comical, and probably driving Kevin Feige absolutely nuts. With that said, based on the latest interview, where we are right now is this:

“First, there is Spider-Man happily in the place where he’s supposed to be which is in the Marvel Universe. I think everything comes from that. This is the signpost, the tentpole, the signature and… the other movies that Sony’s going to make, in their relationship to this [MCU] Spider-Man, take place in this [separate Sony] world. Although you’re not going to see them in the Marvel Universe, it’s in the same reality.”

Ultimately, I'm not sure what to think. If I had to guess, I think Venom will start out as separate from the MCU, almost as a Sony trial run, but then if it is good, they might retroactively bring it into the MCU. The biggest problem with everything here is that Marvel likes creative control of their MCU, which they should, and ultimately these side-movies like Venom or Black Cat or whatever, will be made by Sony, where they don't have creative control. Will be interesting to see how that plays out.

In the end, I think something big is going to shift in the meantime, that may change everything. Don't forget that Sony Pictures Studios is struggling big time right now and is also trying to sell the company. While I don't think Sony wants to give us Spidey rights beings how he is the best thing going for them right now, they may either have to or maybe Marvel just buys all of Sony Pictures outright. In the meantime, I truly believe Sony is announcing all these Spidey spinoffs as some type of big negotiating tool. Anyway, lots of big things at play here which are hard to predict.

Now here is Amy Pascal's latest quote:

“Venom is a character that is closely associated with Spidey and there may be some day where you see them together, you never know.”

And now, Kevin Feige:

“No,” Feige promptly responded when asked if Spider-Man will appear in “Venom.”

He continued, “No, I think the folks there are making a great ‘Venom’ movie and I don’t know much about it, but I know they’re off to a good start with Tom Hardy.”

For anyone who has seen Office Christmas Party, I can't help but think of Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige as this right now (Kevin Feige being Jennifer Aniston and Amy Pascal as TJ Miller):

Saw this review as one of the very few negative reviews out there for Homecoming and got a chuckle out of it:

By far the most lightweight and thematically inconsequential of any and all past "Spider-Man" features.

I mean, did you see Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2?????????? This alone should get that person kicked off Rotten Tomatoes.

Well shes leaving a door open for future movies, it doesnt necessarily coincide with what Feige is saying.

Man... Inhumans is getting roasted online. I think 2% of people liked the trailer. I agree it looks very sketchy, but I'll still give it a shot.

96% fresh right now with 27 reviews counted. Very solid. Plus, its overall average score is 7.8/10, which compares to Wonder Woman's final score of 7.5/10. Again, keep in mind that those average scores usually only fall from here on out as more reviews come in. However, this is about where Wonder Woman started out, so I'd say that Spider-Man: Homecoming is likely about an equal to Wonder Woman scores wise. I'll take it. I also really loved Wonder Woman.

Still hanging strong at 94% and a 7.8 rating after 62 total reviews. Impressive.

James Gunn has stated that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 will be the first MCU film to get a 4K Blu-Ray release.

Yayyyy!!!!!! About time Disney. I've been waiting for this forever. I've been getting tired of buying all 4K movies for my collection EXCEPT Disney properties, which is a lot of what I buy. Count me in the group that loves 4K and GOTG 2 will look spectacular in it.

Anyone heading to an opening showing of Spider-Man Homecoming tonight?? As much as I'd like to say yes for myself, I finally was able to convince my wife into actually going with me again to a superhero movie and due to that, we won't be going until next Tuesday. With that said, I really hope she ends up liking this one.

I am thinking about going. Not sure yet though.

I went last night and it was really good. My favorite version of Peter Parker of the 3. One of MCU's stronger villains. Good mix of action, comedy, character development. My biggest qualm is that Spidey isn't supposed to have that much tech in his suit at 15 years old.

Here is a set photo of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange fighting with an actor in a full mo-cap suit. If you go to the article, there are more photos and one that reveals a tag the back of the mo-cap suit that says "EB Maw" - which people are speculating means that this is most likely Ebony Maw from the Black Order

I know I'm behind the curve here, but I'm finally getting a chance to see Spider-Man Homecoming tonight. I'm super hyped. In fact, if I had to list my favorite super-heroes for most of my earlier childhood, it was definitely a tie between Spider-Man and Batman for the #1 spot, whereas more recently, Captain America has joined that club. Been waiting for when my wife can join me, so I'm really hoping she actually likes it. To prepare her a bit, I showed her the scenes Spider-Man appeared in for Civil War last night. Afterwards, I'll be sure to post my full review and rankings.

I think you picked a good movie to take her too. There are a lot of mentions to the Avenger's and events that have taken place in previous MCU films that she could get lost in some of the backstory, at least in the very beginning. Once you get past the intro and into the actual story of Peter Parker and his high school classmates I think it will start to click with her.

Let me add that my wife and I saw it and she enjoyed it, but she thought Wonder Woman was better.
