Well, in Marvel news, James Gunn just officially announced that he is on board to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 in order to complete a trilogy for those films:

Gotta love how heartfelt James Gunn is in all of his dealings and communications with fans. I truly believe he is one of the few guys that doesn't do things just for the money. While we are yet to see if he came through good with Volume 2, at this point, I have a hard time believing it won't be really good. Therefore, I doubt anybody is sad to hear this news. I did find it interesting though how he said this would conclude their story, which kind of means that the Guardians will definitely end in a trilogy. Who knows though, that is a long time down the road and things can always change.

What he said was that this will be the conclusion of "this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy" meaning that the door is still open for a different group of Guardians. It really wouldn't feel like Guardians without James Gunn's style or Chris Pratt as StarLord, but if Marvel wanted to they could continue the franchise with new characters, like Nova and Adam Warlock. I would guess that Zoe Saldana and Chris Pratt would most likely also conclude their partnerships with Marvel at the end of the trilogy. Dave Bautista would be a guy that I could see return to future Guardians movies. I would also think Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel could be persuaded to stay on in their roles if it continued to only require voice-over and no motion-capture work, but that would be well into Phase 5 - if even such a thing exists.

I guess I'm not really surprised that Marvel decided to make another trilogy. It's just nice to confirm that a third GotG film will be in the works and will help shape Phase 4 after the events of Infinity War. I'm hopeful that Thor: Ragnarok can end the Thor arch on a high note. I feel like Captain America: Civil War felt more like Avengers 2.5, rather than Captain America 3, so I wish we could get one more Cap solo movie but I doubt that happens.

Well, after a press screening, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 first reactions are now officially out and they seem pretty overwhelmingly positive:

There has just been too much good vibe coming from this movie since the get-go that I had a hard time believing it wouldn't live up to the hype. Can't wait!!!

Trying to decide if I'm going to take my big boys to GotG2 in the theater or not. Their mom let them watch the first GotG, which surprised me, so I wouldn't think she'd crap her pants over me taking them to the sequel. But she's crapped her pants over less before.

Marvel officially announces its New Warriors lineup, which looks to be kind of a hodgepodge of characters from different teams throughout the years, rather than the New Warriors teams you've seen in the comics. This is similar to what they did with the Defenders lineup.

Nevertheless, it looks like the plan is to make it a half-hour episode 10 episode season that is more of a comedy than anything else. While it is assumed, I've still never seen any confirmation that it will be a part of the MCU for sure, outside of one of the character descriptions saying Speedball grew up watching Quinjets take off from the Avengers tower.

Thoughts? Do you like the team? Obviously, they steered clear of most of the traditional big names that have been a part of the team, as they are likely saving them for some other role, most likely in the movies.

Captain Marvel just found its director or should I say directors finally in Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden. Truthfully, they don't have a ton of history that I or probably most people know anything about so it is tough to tell whether this is a good choice or not. However, choosing smaller-time creative directors like these and then turning them into big-time blockbuster directors is kind of their M-O. Therefore, its just one of those in Marvel we trust things mostly I guess.

I did this last year and I know I'm a little late on it this year, beings how we've had pretty much 3 different comic book movie genre films come out already (Lego Batman, Logan, Power Rangers), but with the movies left on the slate for 2017, rank them all in order of anticipation for yourself. Here is my list.

1. Wonder Woman
2. Kingsman: The Golden Circle
3. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2
4. Justice League
5. Thor: Ragnarok
6. Spider-Man: Homecoming

I am equally excited about all of the MCU movies. I equally couldn't care less about the other 3.

Unfortunately no, although it is next up on my list, so I'm pretty excited. Regardless, I need to move relatively quickly on it as I see it expires on the FX app pretty soon. My guess is I'll start in the next couple days. While the reviews seem mostly positive for the show, it sounds weird enough that I have no idea what I'll think.

Wow, lots of DC movie pessimism out there. Don't get me wrong, I get it, and I recognize I'm more of an eternal optimist than not, so I tend to give everything the benefit of the doubt. Regardless, it is just sad to see how little hype there is out there for the fricking JUSTICE LEAGUE. I've waited years and years to finally see a live action version of this, so I guess I'm going to choose to be excited until the very end.

https://www.comicbookmovie.com/cloa...rvel-and-freeforms-upcoming-tv-series-a150472

Lots of Marvel news to go around lately, especially after they just dropped the first trailer for their upcoming ABC Freeform TV Series Cloak and Dagger. Not gonna lie, I thought it actually looked pretty good and probably better than what I expected. I also like how they kind of confirmed that the show will be part of the MCU by showing the Roxxon Oil sign at the very end of the trailer, as Roxxon Oil has shown up in relatively small parts throughout the entire MCU so far.

With all this said, I gotta admit I was surprised to even see a trailer so early for this show. Shoot, I thought they just started filming not that long ago and I thought we were still a ways off from the release date. Maybe I'm wrong. TV can many times move pretty quickly on things if they want to.

For me, I grew up reading 95% Marvel comics, mostly X-Men so I have more of a connection to that universe vs DC. For me, I liked Man of Steel, the Dark Knight trilogy and BvS, but Suicide squad really made me question WTH is going on with the behind the scenes. And watching the Justice League trailer, I almost couldn't take it serious at all so my expectations are really low. I think WW looks great but it's hard to say. At the same time, if Thor didn't have the Hulk, it would probably be further down for me.
The movie I have found myself watching every time I see it on is GOG, which was a movie I didn't even bother to see until a year after it was released. Never heard of any of them and now it's probably the movie I could watch over and over and still enjoy. I have a feeling Thor and Justice League are going to be very mixed on reviews.
