Mark Miller Predicts Barnes to UNC

I hope you are right. But someone who knows the Barnes', but doesn't know the decision or even if it has been made, said not to read too much into the decision to open it to the public. His claim is that Harrison worked hard and wants to celebrate with the people that supported him. Which is great. But I do think that by adding that open to the public comment, you are really setting expectations. I think that there would be plenty of ways to get people that know and love Harrison to the press conference without adding the line to the press release.

Oh well, we are a little more than 48 hours away from the announcement. I am slightly hopeful, but am still expecting to have my gut ripped out when he picks Coach Kihatehimsomuch and Roy-boy. At least I'll have a basketball game to go to Friday night.

I guess I really don't see as much here as you guys do. High school seniors don't commit at the McD All American Game like football players do at the Army All-American Game. I went to high school with Todd Blythe and I remember them having a little ceremony when he signed with Iowa State with a few newspaper people, his family and coaches, some people stopped in between class, ect. I just don't know where else he would make a decision that so many people want to know about instantly.

They would probably need the gym regardless for all the people "close" to the situation, but opening it to the general public is the real key. However, that being said if HB is still undecided as he is letting on then the "general public" issue as a factor is very minor, IMO. I've read most of the posts and I could still see him going elsewhere, I'm definitely not unreasonably confident (like a lot of people are starting to become). I feel that things are just now put into perspective on how much of a chance we really do have.

I think there would be a lot more pressure here at ISU than say a Duke or UNC. Would he want to be the center of attention? Being "humble" might dissuade that. Fans have been putting him in the spotlight for years now, so who knows. Would he be treated to this kind of attention at other schools?

The more I think about it, UCLA is the only other school I am at ease with him picking. Don't want him staying in the Big 12...Self seems a bit spineless and Capel is built right out of that "Duke" mold. Coach K and Roy seem to have talent fall into their lap all the time, and I would hate to see them come in to Iowa and a one in a lifetime talent.
 
Do you guys ever think that maybe he'd also stay home because he respects coach K AND Roy? Doesn't want to pick one over the other?
 
Hopefully other recruits who might not realize he's from Ames will think ISU is a worthy school to look at.
 
I think you guys are in some deep deep denial. From everything I have seen and heard, I would say that this was fun while it lasted, but come Friday, he's gone.
