Mark Miller Predicts Barnes to UNC

I hear the decision will be between ISU, Duke, and UNC. UCLA, OU, and Kansas have no shot. It's either ACC powerhouse or hometown glory. If I was in his situation I would stay home and become a hero, but if he decides to become a Blue Devil...I will not mind.
Hey, at least if he's at ISU, it means he's not at UNC, right?

Exactly! I speak for all Dukies when I say this, if it leaks out before he decides that Duke is indeed out of the running...

*pulls out a Cyclone jersey and proudly wears it* LETS GO ISU!!!
GO TO HELL CAROLINA, GO TO HELL!!!

With all that is taking place in Ames, the announcement being there, people invited, I think the kid is staying home

IF you are right, Jon, I will root for the Hawkeyes in one game this year. I hear they might play Kansas, so it could be possible to somehow root for them.

I was going to comment on the thread, but realized that I've never heard of Mark Miller before, and if I didn't read this thread, would have gone my whole life without knowing of his existense.

Not too troubled by his opinions.

I thought this too originally, but then it occured to me that this is pretty standard fare for kids declaring schools. Where else would he declare? This is the best way for his familiy, friends and coaches to be around when he makes his decision known.

I haven't seen too much like this, not with something so huge from a hometown product. Can't think of many..these things usually happen in like the library or AD office

I agree here. I don't think it's open to the public (mostly Ames people and ISU fans) if he's not picking the Cyclones. I also stated in another thread yesterday that I think Barnes respects McD and the team too much to overshadow their season opener with bad news and therefore would have chosen a different day to announce this if he was picking somebody else.

Agree with the respect level for McD but I am assuming that ESPN chose the time for this. They already had Signing day coverage scheduled at this time.

I guess I didn't realize this was open to the public. I was under the impression it was classmates, teachers, coaches, administrators, family, ect...but not any schmuck that wants to go. I guess I really don't see as much here as you guys do. High school seniors don't commit at the McD All American Game like football players do at the Army All-American Game. I went to high school with Todd Blythe and I remember them having a little ceremony when he signed with Iowa State with a few newspaper people, his family and coaches, some people stopped in between class, ect. I just don't know where else he would make a decision that so many people want to know about instantly.

Todd wasn't the number one recruit in the nation...just saying.

I understand that, I am just saying that having a public signing is common place. If the 130th ranked wide reciever can do it with some local media there, what is to be read into about the 1 ranked basketball player doing it?

Yeah, but I'm guessing ESPN would have been willing to do this any day Harrison wanted as I think the early signing period started today. I think he originally was going to sign tomorrow and they were going to cover that but then it was pushed back a day. Whether that was Harrison's idea or ESPN's idea to push it back I don't know.

HB pushed back because he didn't want to overshadow the other Ames High Students signing LOI's...class act

If he doesn't choose ISU I hope Mac is able to coach the team that night.
