Mark Mangino

Eastern Illinois has a stud QB in Jimmy Garoppolo who's averaging almost 400 passing yards a game and put up 450 against N. Illinois...so that makes a big difference...

Be interested to see how their OC did without Garoppolo.

EIU's head coach is Dino Babers who brought the Art Briles offense with him from Baylor. Babers was at Baylor for 4 years before taking over at EIU.

IMO, Frost shouldn't even be on the radar for the OC position. Prior to joining the staff at Oregon, he coached LB and was co-DC for UNI. He has 3 years of experience on the offensive side of the ball, and I would completely floored if he's even being given slight consideration for this position.

Agreed. Being successful as a caretaker in an offensive system you stepped into with the best athletes west of the Mississippi is no indication the guy can successfully running an offense with lower tier talent in the conference.

Mangino will be coaching against UNI in Cedar Falls when Youngstown State comes to the dome on Nov. 9.

It's possible his attitude has changed given where he's at now, but it sounds like he'd be looking more for a HC position somewhere.

Mangino is just the Tight end coach at YSU so hes not very far up the ladder right now. I wouldn't be surprised if he took a coordinator position as his next gig. I think he's got to resurrect his image before he thinks about becoming a HC at a D1 program again.

This. ISU could be a very good opportunity for him to get back into coaching at the BCS conference level.

Never understood the role of "interviews" in selecting football coaches....anyone?

Maybe KU wants him back. They have not been lighting up the table very much.

I thought he was Tight-Ends / "co" offensive coordinator, or some such title....

Edit: An unverified source (Wikipedia) states that he is "An assistant head coach."

If JP and CPR interview a potential candidate and they come off as a complete jerk, then it doesn't matter ho well he can coach.

You mean, like Jim Harbaugh did?
