i think it's hard to say what a kid will do over the next 2 years. TJ has shown how creative and how impressive of a recruiter he can be over the past few years. I don't think we're out of the race yet because of both TJ and Fred. I'm not being blinded by a magical unicorn Fred, but I think people in the state are already getting aboard the bandwagon and are impressed that a local boy came back to resurrect the program. It's quite possible that we surprise people in Fred's first two year (not a Big XII title, but over .500 and improving), combine that with a style of play (on paper) which is highly attractive to recruits and I think ISU is a player for many of the in-state talents. I do think we're at a disadvantage if and when the big boys come offering, but I gotta believe that not every local kid drops everything to wear blue or chant rock chalk.
I'm very optimistic about Fred's chances with recruits moving forward. He's gotten some decent transfers to come play for a dead-in-the-water program and his humble and straight-forward approach is going to resonate with kids.
