AMES, Iowa – Iowa State men’s basketball signee Emmanuel Malou will remain in the NBA Draft and forgo his college eligibility.
“Manny has informed us that he will stay in the NBA Draft,” Iowa State head coach Steve Prohm said. “We wish him the best as he pursues his dream of playing basketball professionally in the NBA.”
Malou, a forward from Melbourne, Australia, signed with the Cyclones in November while attending Yuba College (California). He was ranked as the No. 2 JUCO player in the nation and a four-star recruit according to 247sports.com.
“After careful consideration, I have decided that it is time to pursue my NBA dream and sign with an agent,” Malou said. “I know that it is going to require a huge amount of work, but I am motivated and excited for the challenges that lie ahead. I would like to thank all the staff at Iowa State for all that they have done for me. I want to wish them and the players the best of luck in the coming season.”

no. this is a "don't **** around with players who have shown they don't know what they're doing and waste everyone's time" post. i don't care if we get transfers or guys who have questionable relationships at previous schools. whatever. what is stupid is going after guys who have any question on eligibility. just get guys you know will come to the school and be done with it.

This isn't a Prohm or Iowa State problem. This is a you problem. I'd suggest you stop following recruiting. It may just be too much for you.

Because he has an agent now. It's like once you get a lawyer, he does your talking for you.

My guess, he decided, within the past week, that is best for him to stay in the draft, then he hired an agent before going public.
But who says that he is his agent though. Did they ask Malou and he said go talk to this guy. What other than morals is stopping someone from saying I'm this guys agent and he is staying in the draft. Not that I'm saying he isn't, but just seems like lazy reporting.

Yeah I dunno. I read the tweet, and just assumed it was known that he was his agent.

They confirm its his agent before saying it is. But the story is not who his agent is it is that he is staying in the draft. No one cares if you write "I got confirmation this is in fact Malou's agent".
What a weird thing to get hung up on regarding this news

It is a bummer for Iowa State But hopefully great for the kid. If he truly struggled with grades it would have hurt us more to have him get here and participate and then possibly not make grades for a 2nd semester and leaving us to have to scramble right before the conference season starts.

His eligibility problems weren't because he couldn't make grades. It was the complicated path that got him to today that they were going to have trouble sorting out.

It looks weird to quote some guy that most people have never heard of that he is making the decision. It would have been better to say something like Malou has hired X as his agent or confirming that X is Malou's agent. Confirming that the new person is hired with the new hire doesn't add credibility.

I feel bad for Malou. I can't help but see a kid who is the victim of a bad scam in ABCD Prep. Hope he has a successful NBA career.

I personally blame the NCAA on the eligibility question

NCAA no longer gives a **** about student athletes. He ain't goin to skool now

Romello White isn't coming to Iowa State. Zero chance. Cornish situation is a bit more interesting and fluid. Still think that the chance is less than 15% for him as well.

Malou never existed. He was made up by CF for page views. :jimlad:

Any clue who we are looking at? Aside from Cornish.
