Lucca to have knee surgery

Obviously this sucks.

However, look at the bright side...if Staiger misses enough of the season everyone will have a convenient excuse as to why 2009-2010 is McDermott's "first real season" as Cyclone HC.

Ah, yes. You know it is close to basketball season when the McDermott haters start to appear. Like robins in the spring...

This is about someone being injured - can we just let ONE opportunity for a jab at Mac go by unnoticed? This is to everyone in general - come on, show some class.

My comment was not a jab at McDermott but rather a jab at all those Cyclone fans that keep telling us that last year didn't count or telling us we have to wait until next year or the year after.

I don't hate McDermott. I hate ISU being a doormat in BB. I hate ISU fans that are not willing to demand greatness. That is what I hate.

That might be a topic for another thread, then. This thread is about the injury of one of our own players, a player who has already had a year of misfortune.

Again - my comment was directed at the group in general (see the quote), but I think it is applicable.

An "overuse injury". Why the heck did we let him play on two teams this summer? We're not talking Cap City here. I'm sure those two German teams were quite involved and he put considerable mileage on his legs. Probably close to another full collegiate season.

Then again I'm not sure we had much choice if he really wanted to play. Anybody have any insight?

Opportunity for Lucca...Should we be more selfish?

After being forced to sit on the sidelines for a year, I'm sure he just wanted to sharpen his skills somewhere. The guy loves to play, obviously, if he came from his own nation overseas to get a chance. I don't think anyone would/could stop him. Better on a team with (I'd assume) managers and trainers than street ball.

He may have left for good if Mac said he couldn't play, I don't know but after not playing competitively (SP, good grief it is going to be a long day) it may have been something he really wanted to/needed to do.

Considering the state of our basketball program, maybe. Dunno. Props to GMac I guess. Other coaches might have been more selfish considering their job may be on the line, or even if it wasn't.

Total conjecture, but Haluska has the experience...

Haluska was going to see minutes before Lucca's injury, but I didn't expect him to be behind Lucca to start. When I looked at the roster again, I realized there is nobody else.

Likely the beginning of a another season of "hits" so we can reset the GMAC clock to year 1 beginning next year again...LOL.

Sorry...couldn't resist.

Hopefully LS is ready to go in a couple weeks and it isn't a lingering issue throughout the year.

I had my meniscus trimmed last Friday and I'm pretty much walking normal already. I hope to return to running in another week or two. Let's hope it's something along these lines and nothing more serious.

My wife had her meniscus worked on almost 5 years ago and it still bothers her. God I'm worried about this.
