LOST: Lighthouse

I'll have to check out to see what else he has said.

Dogen=best new character

Too bad new characters don't last too long when introduced in the last season of a show.

This got me thinking about Miles. How long will it be before he's killed off? His character hasn't been important for a while now. What's his purpose anymore?

Also, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they might have killed off Sawyer at the end of season 1. He gets shot and falls in the water off the raft. It's just crazy that he's a very important character now.

If you want to talk about who could have been dead, Jack was written off the show in the pilot episode.

So in the alternate timeline Jack clearly has knowledge from the past, that is going through all this time loops (which resulted into him back in the mainland once).

It was cool he had his scar from the appendix surgery but didnt remember having it done as a kid. Missing memories.

I was listening to the Lost podcast that they did just after last week's episode, and they made an interesting comment saying that we're NOT seeing two alternative realities. Maybe earlier thoughts were correct, that the "side-flashes" come AFTER what happenes to the on-island losties at the end of the show.

I was also reading some other interesting theories on another Lost forum, and this one got the wheels churning. We've seen four ancient remants on the island of a previous civilization/society that was there before everyone else... and they match up pretty well (so far) to the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World:

Temple of Artemis - The Temple - Artemis (according to Wikipedia) was the "goddess of forests and hills, childbirth, virginity, fertility... she even assumed the ancient role of Eileithyia in aiding childbirth". Hmmm, child birth...

Colossus of Rhodes - The Statue - Even though the Colossus was a statue of the Sun God Helios, the coincidential nature of this and the next two are too much.

Hanging Gardens of Babylon - The Orchid - The Orchid looked very much like a botanical garden from the outside... and although the ancient aspect to this area was actually the Well with the time-shifting wheel at the bottom... it's still quite a strange coincidence.

Lighthouse of Alexandria - The Lighthouse - I would think this one is fairly self explanatory. (Also interesting, but unrelated, to note that Dharma tracked the island back in Los Angeles using a station called the Lamp Post.)

This leaves three structures yet to be seen on the island, such as the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, The Statue of Zeus at Olympia (although there have been previous references to a volcano on the island), and the Great Pyramid of Giza (again, volcano?)

I must admit that I am enjoying every minute of the final episodes of LOST. I didn't think they would do a good job of answering the question and finishing out one of the best TV shows ever.

A question however:

Who did Jack have this new kid with? If I understand correctly, had the plane not crashed Jack's past would have changed also (since they traveled back in time on the island). If you were to guess among the Losties, who do you think David's mom could be? I am thinking Joliet.

Thanks for posting that. I remember thinking that the statue resembled the Colossus of Rhodes, but I never put any of the other sites together.

That was my thought as well, but the more I think about it, it just seems too obvious for the writers to go down that path.

From what I've picked up on... it seems as if every time Jack looks into a mirror he starts picking up attributes from the Jack on the island. (i.e. when he looked into the mirror in the plane's bathroom, as well as this last episode when he looked into the mirror and commented on his appendix scar)

I saw a theory elsewhere that was sort of interesting.... What if this alternate timeline is what has actually been happening the entire time, or the "real" timeline. And all of the action on the island is simply Jacob's way of molding the souls of the survivors into a better person. Then these new and improved souls are gradually merged back into the real timeline and the result is that they all are better people, etc.

They do go through a lot of change in the island but I don't think they become better people off the island. Jin doesnt like Sun to unbutton her shirt, Locke is not optimistic, Charlie is killing himself, Jack is still not a good parent - "answered his phone call, late for his visit to see his son etc, ignorant of his son's emotion towrds grandpa dying".

That's true. And also I think Juliet in the character lived in Seattle and not LA. Also, did anyone catch that David had a 743 digit cell number which is the area code of Ann Arbor MI?

Possible spoiler below but only if you can solve it.

So…What Is the Island? It's described as a four-letter word. There's your first clue! Shall we play Hangman? There are no A's or E's in the word…Wanna buy another vowel? Okay, but you only get one.

Ok so I filled this in white so you could highlight to read, but its not working. Apologize, but skip over if you dont want to read it. I cant solve it for the life of me.

A book? There are a lot of possibilities, but there's my guess. It's all the crazy world of some sci-fi author. How mad would the fans be if that were true?

That could be very cool if they are working that all together. Maybe it is an underlying imagery and not to be clear also.

As far as the flash sideways, I think in the enhanced version of the show from last week (and the week before) they made clear it is what would have happened if Oceanic 815 never crashed.

Regarding Jack's son, that is a crazy one. I am pretty sure it is new to the timeline and I am very curious how that plays out. The scars that are appearing are interesting, and funny how the explanations for them are changing. It reminds me of something, but I can't put my finger on it (from another show).

Here is what is getting to me. Clearly on the enhanced versions this season, they keep on saying that the flash sideways is showing what "would have" happened if 815 never crashed because the island was "sunk" in 1977 from the Jughead.

OK, so we've seen in the flash sideways several weird things. First off, Locke has a good relationship with his dad, which consequently is the reason he is still with Peggy Bundy. Kate told Claire she is innocent and didnt murder anyone. Hurley used different numbers to win the lottery and those numbers were not "cursed." Jack obviously had a kid (with his ex wife I'm guessing) and Bernard and Rose are NOT together. They lived in New York, not LA. Ben being a teacher in the states.

With all that being said, how does the island being destroyed change all of that, especially with Lockes dad not being a complete jerk. I'm willing to bet that when we see Sawyers (James Ford) flash sideways he won't be a conman and will be a nice guy because his mom was never conned by Lockes dad. We've already seen a hint of this on the plane when he was being nice to Hugo.

I know what you are saying. There are some things in the timeline that would have nothing to do with them not crashing. The enhanced version seems a bit screwy there.
