First of all I'm not an active poster on CycloneFanatic, but don't hold that against me. I do however check the website daily for breaking news and insider information. I'm a diehard cyclones fan and CF is definitely the best way to stay connected to what's going on in Cyclone Nation.

That being said I'm trying to get the word out about a movie that I produced and appear in as the lead actor. It's called "Road to the Open". It is being released in 10 theaters across the country this weekend, March 28th. It is scheduled to be in theaters for 1 week only, unless there is a better than anticipated box office draw. (I don't see any of that money BTW). I know the timing stinks due to the games this weekend. (Yes I said gameS!)

Anyway, I know that CycloneFanatic is a great community and shows great support for fellow cyclones and reaches people all around the country. So I'm looking to get some momentum for the movies release.

My cyclone bio is that I have been a fan since my family moved to central Iowa in 1978. We had season tickets to MBB and FB and I attended a lot of other events on campus growing up. My father was a Prof and ISU and my Mom received here MA and PHD from ISU as well. I am currently a PhD student at ISU. My family and I relocated to Ames 2 years ago from Los Angeles for me to pursue graduate school. I spent 15 years in the film industry prior to our move back to Iowa.

Sorry, that's a lot of information but I just wanted you guys to know that I'm legit and not just pimping a random product. Our movie was very low budget and doesn't have a great marketing campaign behind it so I'm just trying to be creative and reach out to any network of people I have a connection with.

Thanks for your interest. Here is the information about theaters. If you live in any of the areas your support is greatly appreciated. If its not your type of movie that's fine as well. No offense will be taken. It was very difficult just to get a theatrical release so we are very proud of that.

CLEVELAND Regal Cobblestone 20
DALLAS Cinemark Legacy 24
DENVER Regal Colorado Mills 16
HOUSTON Cinemark Tinseltown 17 The Woodlands

Thanks a ton!

bump. Best of luck. I don't live anywhere close to those cities though! Sorry!

Does it play in New York this weekend?

Too bad the t-shirt in the first half of the trailer isn't ISU gear. It has the right colors.

Or superimpose the Hoiberg dance moves onto the tennis court in order to go viral with Cyclone Nation.

Im in Dallas and am trying to look up tickets for it on the theater website.

Since its a limited release, maybe I would have to call? Trailer looked good!

No New York theaters. That would have been perfect. We had such a low budget for the film that we were scared of any copyright issues so no ISU gear. I actually lobbied for a cyclone t-shirt options in one scenes but got shot down by legal.

I don't think showtimes have been released at any of the theaters yet, but when they are you should just be able to get ticket online or at the theater ticket window.

Thanks for showing interest. I really appreciate it!

Looks like a worthwhile movie from the preview. Cool stuff.

I returned to Ames as well, otherwise I would definitely go see the movie. Hope it continues to stay on the top of the thread index so that people in those cities can see it.

Good luck.

Get a friend to make a bootleg version of the trailer that edits in a few shots with a Cyclone jersey (or do something else that will grab the special attention of our fanbase, like dub in Hoiberg dancing) and it could go viral through Cyclone Nation.

Let us know how it is received. Would like to see it. Just nowhere close to any of those cities. THought at the beginning it looked like it was going to be a comedy but then the love story came in. Date-type movie or how do you see it?

Okay - count me as another fish on the hook!

I'll be in Phoenix for a week...if we have free time (and transport) away from family I'll see if we can make it. But do keep us posted if it goes farther.

Best of luck!

I will for sure keep the fanatics updated on how its doing. Totally understand about not being close to any of the cities. Like I said, I'm going up to Minneapolis this weekend to see it. Probably have to see it on Saturday since I'm assuming the friday showing will be during game time.

The film is a quirky romantic comedy. Since I'm not a typical "leading man", I categorize it as quirky and a bit more realistic which is what we were going for. Its in the same vain of a "Sideways" meets "Little Miss Sunshine" but tamed down. By no means am I saying it will have that type of success, but its a solid movie with comedy, relationships and a good story. Its a PG rating and appropriate for the whole family.

I think you're right. I'm gonna see what I can do to make a new trailer featuring Funky Fred!

Looks good! I can't make it to any of those cities but would like to see it sometime.

Thanks. I'm hoping to get the film to central Iowa, but its at the mercy of the distributors now. I'll put out a message when its available for download online. Thanks for the interest!

Hi, I'm Troy McKay!
You may remember me from such films as "Road to the Open"...

Looks great. I'm in the same boat as others and nowhere near any of those cities, but the trailer looks great. Saw some good faces in there too.
